I had the honor of being one of the founding members of The DFW Claude R. Platte Chapter of TAI. At that time I enjoyed visiting with and listening to amazing stories of heroism from Mr. Platte and his comrades. He will be sorely missed. My prayers go out to his lovely wife Mrs. Erma Platte and to the family.

I met this sweet man in the lobby of FWISD when he came to visit our Superintendent. I felt such pride to shake his hand and speak with him. What a sweet person!! I am so proud that our Lord gave me the opportunity to meet him and be aware of the honorable work he did as a Tuskegee Airman for our nathion. Our nation is better because of him. God bless you all.

Had the pleasure to meet this good and honorable man with my mother Joy a "Rosie" who worked on the P-51 Mustang planes this man flew and trained many hundreds of others to fly. God bless you Erma and God speed Captain Platte.

Mr. Platte will sorely be missed by everyone who knew him or read about him. He is a true pioneer in our Aviation history. The "Tuskegee Airmen" will always be remembered as brave men willing to sacrifice everything for their Country. We will always be indebted for their sacrifice and courage for their participation in our history. Rest in peace in your place in Heaven.

I was deeply sadden to hear that my friend had completed his journey. However, Mr. Platte has left such a remarkable legacy that will live on forever. He was such an inspiring individual . I thank God for Mr. Platte and every life he touched. My condolences to the family.

Several months ago, I was visiting Cavanaugh Flight Museum with my daughters (9 years old and 7 months). I was explaining to my oldest daughter some of the history of planes in the museum when we happened upon Mr. Platte as he was getting ready to leave. He asked my oldest daughter if she was enjoying the visit. She said, yes, and I explained who Mr. Platte was. She said, "Really? Oh, thank you! You're a hero!" And I got to see his eyes light with pleasure. He was a wonderful gentleman and I am glad to have had the pleasure of meeting him and giving my daughter a wonderful memory to connect with history. My condolences to his family and friends, for they have lost a wonderful light in the world, though heaven has gained one.

It was always a "event" when Cousin Claude would come to our house in Baltimore.I would be excited well before he came. Once he got there, my brother and I would laugh and follow him "foot to foot". We had butter pecan ice cream. Looking back at it, what an unbelievable man! His patience and laughter was astounding as he loved us at ages 8 and 6. After I became an adult, I was very cognizant of his accomplishments, but I remember, foremost that he had two little boys in Baltimore thinking "he walked on water".

Mr. Claude will be greatly missed! He always greeted you with a warm smile and kind spirit! He always showed nothing but love and total devotion to his Queen, Mrs. Erma. I'd always joke with them both, that I wanted be just like them when I grow up! Mrs. Erma, I'm available when you need something! Just call me, I'm there! God be with you! Love you much.

Mrs. Platte, Donna and I would like to offer our deepest condolences, and thank you for sharing Mr. Platte with us, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines of NAS JRB Fort Worth. He truly touched everyone that came in contact with him, me most of all because I loved discussing the history of the Tuskegee Airmen and how his life was impacted by everyone that was a part of them.
