Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Lamar Baptist Church, 1000 W. Lamar Blvd., with the Rev. Bruce Schmidt and the Rev. James Weir officiating. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Powell was a retiree of Sinclair/ARCO Pipeline Co. after 35 years of service and had been an Arlington resident for 58 years. He had been a member of Northside Baptist Church and Lamar Baptist Church for more than 50 years and served on the board of deacons for a majority of that time.
Mr. Powell was very well known and respected by the Arlington community and its leaders. He demonstrated a gentle leadership for his family, the church and the community.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis Smith.
Survivors: Wife of 70 years, Mary Powell; daughter, Jan Payne and husband, Jim; son, Larry Powell and wife, Linda; brother, Charles Powell; sisters, Doris Jackson and Shirley Halipoff; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

My family lived in Ozark all their lives. My dad knew Mr. Powell and his family. He had a great deal of respect for him and his family. I live in Arlington now. God bless this family.

I will always remember Cliff as a follower of Jesus, trusted friend and church leader...he was always an encouragment and a voice of peace. I thank God for the years of knowing Cliff and his family. My prayers and love are with you all in this most difficult time.
