Colin Hill Obituary
Colin Matthew Hill
August 29, 1972 - September 4, 2024
Little Elm, Texas - Colin Matthew Hill was born on August 29, 1972, in North Richland Hills, TX. He passed away peacefully at his home in Little Elm, TX, on September 4, 2024, at the age of 52.
Colin's overwhelming passion for music started at a young age and was an integral part of his life. After attending college in Maryland, he returned to North Texas to pursue his dream of being a professional musician. After forming the band Stereo Fuse and recording their first album, they toured the country with Creed in the early 2000s. They performed at CBGB in New York City, the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, and other venues throughout the U.S. Their cover of "Everything" by Material Issue entered the Billboard Top 20 in 2003, and their song "Super Hero" was featured in the Jackie Chan movie, The Medallion.
After finding success and living his rockstar dream, music remained a deeply personal pursuit throughout Colin's life. He wrote "Like I Do" to reflect his special relationship with God amidst the unseen challenges of life as a Cystic Fibrosis (CF) patient. Colin was diagnosed with CF when he was almost three years old. At that time, the life expectancy was only eight. With advances in new medications, and by the grace of God, he far exceeded his initial prognosis. Over the course of his life, Colin was dedicated to serving the North Texas Chapter of the CF Foundation.
Colin's life was a blessing to everyone who knew him. With a sharp wit and even sharper mind, he was a true delight to those lucky enough to call him a friend. He was a talented musician, dog-lover, and die-hard Alabama fan. Loved ones remember him for his unmatched musicality, his reputation as "the backseat of knowledge" (he was a multi-game Trivial Pursuit champion as a one-man team), and his effortless sense of cool. He lived his life on his own terms while making use of his many talents. We thank God for sharing him with us for 52 years!
Colin leaves behind a community of loved ones to cherish his memory - his loving wife of 28 years, Diane, and their beloved dogs Bailey and Roscoe; Diane's mother, Lynne Wehrspann, and her uncle, Jeff Baker; his mother and father, Reg and Sandra Hill; sisters Allison Brock (Rusty), and Erin Tucker (Curtis); nieces Aubrey, Elizabeth, Katherine, and Caroline, and nephew, Connor. In addition are numerous cousins who held a special place in his heart.
The service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Texas Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We appreciate all who have played a role in Colin's life and have expressed their love and support to our family.
