Fort Worth, Texas - Daniel Richard Gasparo, 80, of Fort Worth, passed away on August 5th, 2022. Dan was born on February 25th, 1942, to Patricia and Nicholas Gasparo in Chicago, Illinois.
Dan had a passion for nature and serving others. In that vein, he soared like an eagle throughout his 40-year career with the Boy Scouts of America. After serving the BSA in the Chicago Area Council and San Gabriel Valley Council (Pasadena, CA), he proudly served as the Scout Executive of the Boulder Dam Area Council (Las Vegas, NV), Denver Area Councils, and lastly the nation's largest - the Greater New York Area Councils - from which he retired in 2004.
Dan loved his family and friends, a good party, and he never missed a chance to tell a good story. He was a product of his hometown of Chicago, through and through. He loved family reunions, family recipes, and family traditions. He loved Chicago beefs and Vienna Beef hot dogs almost as much as he did the Cubs and the Bears. His hobbies were golf, fly fishing, scuba diving, trap shooting, and traveling. He loved to read American history, create stained glass art, grill the perfect ribeye, and sing a multi-verse, long-winded happy birthday song to family members.
Dan is survived by his wife Paulette (Volkman) Gasparo; brothers, Jim Gasparo and John Gasparo; daughters Ellen (Gasparo) Crawford and Nicole Gasparo-Rose; grandchildren Johnathon, Joseph, and Bailey Crawford, and Thomas Rose; and great-grandchildren Charles and Clara Crawford.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents Patricia and Nicholas, and his sister, Patricia (Gasparo) Socha.
