Doris Elaine Meadows Cripliver

Doris Elaine Meadows Cripliver, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed on from this life peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014. Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at University United Methodist Church, 2416 West Berry St., Fort Worth 76110. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood. Doris was born July 31, 1921, in Loraine to Samuel Ernest and Mary Agnes Meadows. She spent her childhood on the family farm in Loraine and then attended McMurry University in Abilene along with her sister Jane. After college, Doris worked in Washington, D.C. for her uncle, the late George H. Mahon, congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives. She also worked as a draftsman for the government while in Washington before coming back to Texas. In 1945, Doris married the love of her life, Charles Roger Cripliver; he preceded her in death in 2007. She was very active in serving those in need with the Methodist Women's group at University United Methodist Church for most of her life. She was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Fort Worth for over 20 years. As a housewife and mother she supported her husband Roger's extensive research and work in the aviation industry, and attended an endless number of baseball practices and games with her son Charles through his formative years. She was known as MawMaw by her granddaughters and spent countless hours caring for and conveying her wisdom to all of the grandchildren, nieces and nephews who were so fortunate to have her in their lives. She was also a caretaker to both her mother and mother-in-law during their later years. Doris' passions were gardening and keeping an organized household. Her life was characterized by her faith and devotion to her Lord and Savior, and by her generosity and giving to her church, community and family. Survivors: Son, Charles E. Cripliver; sister, Jane Coston; brother, Hubert Meadows and wife, Nina; granddaughters, Carli Cripliver and Shannon Bradshaw; and nieces and nephews, Marla Davis, Catherine Walls, James Meadows, Steve Meadows, David Meadows, Tom Coston and Wendell Coston.
