Dorothy Cox Obituary

Dorothy Ella Yarbrough Cox passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Fellowship Hall at New World United Methodist Church, 2201 N. Davis, Arlington. Visitation: 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Dorothy was born in Sudan, Texas, on Feb. 1, 1924, to Rube Yarbrough and Margaret Thieme Yarbrough. Shortly after birth, she moved to Vernon, where she grew up and attended school. Dorothy married James Kent Cox on Nov. 1, 1941, in Fredrick, Okla. They were married for 73 years, living in Vernon, Arlington, Lake LBJ, San Antonio and Fort Worth. Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother and father; two brothers, Donald and Gay Yarbrough; sister, Ruth Ann; a grandson, Mac McLellan; and her husband, Kent. Survivors: Daughters, Sandra Cain and Nancy Brown; son, James Kent Cox Jr.; brothers, L.G. and Robert Yarbrough; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
