Dorothy Flanagan Obituary

Dorothy Imelda Flanagan, 85, a homemaker and retired bookkeeper for Bergeron's TV, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Rita Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard Flores will preside. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 4 p.m. Sunday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, where a vigil service will begin at 5 p.m.

Memorials: Her memory may be honored with a gift to Eastside Ministries, 5929 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76112; or St. Rita Catholic Church, 5550 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76112.

Dorothy Imelda Hanson was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Little Rock, Ark., to Mary Eddith Catherina and Maynard Nicholas Hanson Jr. She married Lindley Eric Flanagan Jr. on Feb. 14, 1943. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church, where she was active for 50 years. She was a square dancer with Levi and Lace and also loved to read and work crossword puzzles. She was a vibrant and happy person with great enthusiasm for life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Frances Girard.

Survivors: Her husband of 63 years, Lindley Flanagan Jr.; sons, Robert Flanagan and his wife, Karin, of Frisco, Charles Flanagan of Columbus, Ohio, David Flanagan and his wife, Teri, of Fort Worth and Chris Flanagan and his wife, Christie, of Aledo; grandchildren, Rob, Meg, Kelly, Eric, Colleen, Annie and Laura; great-grandchildren, Ayla and Michael; brother, Maynard Walton and his wife, Florence; and nieces and nephews.

i have not seen you in about 5 years. but when i did go to your house everyday you were like a grandmother to me. you would take me to YMCA with you and you would take me to the park to play with rocky. you were such an inspiration to me. you were so tenderhearted and joyful.

Dot was a true treasure. She was such a wonderful example of a happy, kind, giving Christian, wife, mother, and friend. I will never forget her hospitality, wonderful apple cake, and her "Polka Dot" act. Dot is one of those folks that will never be forgotten.
