Dorothy Harvey Obituary

Dorothy Harvey, 76, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at a Graham hospital.

Graveside service: 10 a.m. Wednesday in Pioneer Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church.

Memorials: First United Methodist Church, Youth Program, Box 88, Graham, Texas 76450, or a charity of choice.

She graduated as salutatorian of her high school class and attended Ranger College. She worked for the Federal Aviation Administration in meteorology in Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin for six years. She married Fairl Leon Harvey on April 14, 1950 in Marshall. Together they established Harvey Drilling Co. in Graham. He preceded her in death Feb. 6, 1981. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Dorothy’s abiding faith in God and servant’s heart provided strength, support and inspiration to family, friends and strangers. Her caretaking was felt most deeply in her roles as daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Her family rejoices in her life.

Survivors: Daughters, Pamela Steele and husband, Mark, of Graham and Janet O’Neal and husband, David, of Tyler; mother, Era Maupin of Gorman; brother, Billy Jack Maupin and wife, Carolyn, of Stephenville; and grandchildren, Joel and Claire Steele.
