Good Times

Losing our coach Eddy Peach was just like losing a father, brother. All the years I played ball under him that's just how I was treated by him. He was and still is the best coach in the high school business, this man could have took the cowboys to the Super Bowl several times. I would give anything to be back on that field again. God rest your soul coach, we love you. David C McKnight II

I am out of the country, but I was so saddened and shocked to learn of Eddy's death. I pray that God will wrap his arms around each of you and help you find healing and peace. (It is often very difficult when death comes so unexpected.) Prayers and warm thoughts for each of you during this difficult time. Xoxo

Condolences to the Peach family. My twin brother and I were football players on Lamar's inaugural football team. We were mostly a bunch of skinny 15-year old sophomores playing against teams with seniors. Lamar, in those days, still bore the smell of fresh paint. The football field's turf was barely established. Many of the players had to pick burrs off of their uniforms. My father had coached at Arlington High School in the 1960s, and my sisters had been cheerleaders at Arlington High School. Coach Peach was always held in high esteem.
In those formative years, we learned the life skills of teamwork, work ethic, personal responsibility and community. We are grateful for the ride he gave us. God speed, Coach Peach.

I had the privilege to have played three years of baseball at AHS under the leadership of Coach Peach. He molded us into not only a cohesive and talented baseball team but more importantly, he wisely nudged and guided young boys down the path to becoming good men. He had more impact on my athletic career than any coach or manager at any level. I will be forever grateful that our paths crossed. My prayers are sent to the Peach family, your husband and your father was a truly great man and although he has left us, his memory will live on.

It was my great pleasure to be Eddy's teammate at OU and at Liberal, KS playing for the BeeJays. He was a great competitor then, the leader of our team and a trusted friend. Same traits be built his legacy on at Lamar. Obviously he was loved by his family, his players and his friends, a man can't ask for more than that. Rest in Peace, Eddy, WELL DONE!

The Peach family moved to
Elk City, OK from Moreland when Eddy was a sophomore and he made an immediate impact on the quality of all of our athletic teams, on which he and I were teammates and his dad Nelson was our physics teacher. Eddy was a good guy and great teammate back then and none of his friends from those years were at all surprised by his success as a coach and mentor. We extend our condolences to the family.

Debbie, Shawn, Scott, and the rest of the extended Peach Family, My most sincere condolences, and prayers for your family. Dad coached with Eddie for many years, many games, many practices, many late nights. I know he thoroughly enjoyed every year of that time in his life, working with such a man of great integrity and love for those around him. Coach Peach always made me feel like part of the family when I was visiting Lamar or attending a game. What a legend he is to Arlington, all the kids he coached and taught over the years, and even those of us on the sidelines. Coach Peach was an inspiration to all he coached, taught, coached with, and anyone he was around. I cannot help but feel the good Lord needed an angel, maybe even a coach last week, and he got the call up. Godspeed Coach...you will be missed.
