Edmund Schenecker Obituary

Edmund Whitla Schenecker II
January 11, 1961 - April 17, 2021
San Antonio, Texas - Sartorial patron and retired technology innovator Edmund Schenecker's fascinating life didn't come to an end with his passing. Edmund passed away peacefully at his San Antonio residence on April 17, 2021 after a blessed 60-year life; the last four years with metastatic lung cancer. Those of us left here are determined to honor his legacy by living our lives to the fullest.
Edmund completed his Bachelor's degree at Washington & Lee University, after which he returned to Texas to contribute his vast talents to the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, the Public Library Board, Fort Worth Country Day School, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Eventually, Edmund moved to San Antonio, where he continued his legacy of volunteering, in particular at the McNay Art Museum, while starting and successfully running various companies for decades.
A true champion of the underdog and the upstart, Edmund chose to thrive as a true apostle of artisans and artists worldwide. In the span of any given day, a discussion (some might mention with a glass of beautiful Burgundy in hand) of the minute details of ticking on a handmade shirt, an informative session with an artisan on how to leverage the power of technology to exponentially improve visibility in the creative space, or a laughter-filled meal in which he was the ultimate 'connector' defined the diapason of Edmund's influence.
While Edmund lived life on his terms, he always made time for others and was the type of person who made your world a better place just upon meeting.
Predeceasing Edmund are his father, Edmund Morris Schenecker, his niece Calyx Powers Schenecker, and his nephew Powers Beau Schenecker. He is survived by his mother Nancy Trousdale Schenecker, brother Colonel (US Army, Retired) Parker Boswell Schenecker and his sister-in-law Kellie Anne Schenecker.
Memorials to his beloved Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth would make Edmund smile. The family has decided to delay a service until after the lifting of COVID travel restrictions.

I was lucky to be introduced a few years ago to Edmund. I was happy for meeting him for two reasons: firstly, because he is such a kind and dedicated friend and secondly, because his selection of artisans is so sharp that entering his wardrobe is the best acknowledgement you could ask for.

Edmund made the world looks so big by its variety of connections and experience and yet so small because you could catch up with him almost everywhere on the planet!

He had the intelligence and humility to give a lot of people work to improve themselves instead of getting lost in a vanity project by buying an atelier as it is often the case in this discipline.

A true mécène in that sense and much more than that.

His work and persona will not be forgotten and few people like him could enjoy the fact that he truly made the difference in the artisanal world.

Your friend and family must be so proud of you.
