Elmo Jackson Obituary

Elmo T. Jackson, 72, passed on to his heavenly home on February 20, 2026. He died at his home after suffering from a heart attack. Beloved husband of Vernita. Devoted father of Emichelle, Edwin, Ertasha, Marcus and Quinton. Loving grandfather of Kayden, Lia, Zoë, Novah, DJ and Aariana. Elmo was born on December 25,1953 in Rosebud, TX. He attended Rosebud Lott High School where he was an all-around athlete excelling in baseball and football. He was a first-generation college student, receiving his bachelor's degree from Prairie View A&M University and later earned his master's degree at the University of North Texas. He served as an officer in the United States Navy from 1976 to 1980. He surrendered his life to Jesus in his early 20s and was ordained as a minister in the Church of God In Christ. He served faithfully at Crouch Memorial as a minister and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He led his family to church on a regular basis. He later branched out and started his own church, the Gift of God Outreach Ministry, where he served as Pastor for 10 years. He then felt called to return to his former church, now known as Crouch's Time of Harvest, to serve out the rest of his days. He was a Godly man. He walked and lived by Biblical principles. He was faithful, loyal, and generous. He also had high standards for his children. He taught them a strong work ethic and to do things with excellence without saying a word. His initial career aspiration was to become a businessman for IBM. But God had other plans and led him into the field of education where he served as a public-school teacher, coach and eventually became a vice principal. He worked in Everman ISD, Cedar Hill ISD, and Fort Worth ISD for many years at several different schools. He enjoyed working with students. It became a passion for him. While working at an elementary school in an underserved community in Fort Worth, he noticed there was no little league baseball team. He started a team himself so the boys would have an opportunity to play baseball. He retired a few years back and was enjoying his free time. He liked spending time with his wife and attending dance, choir, and other school shows for his granddaughters. He was a sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the hometown teams: the Rangers, the Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks, and Wings. He also encouraged all his children to play sports and was there to support them at almost every game. Elmo lived a full life. He excelled at many things, but his children were his pride and joy. He always put their needs above his own comfort, desires, and self-interest. He left a Godly legacy that will live on eternally. We are grateful for his life – a life well lived.
