Evelyn O'Connell Kummer

Evelyn O'Connell Kummer died peacefully Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, St. Maria Goretti Catholic, 1200 S. Davis Drive, Arlington. Evelyn was born in New York City Oct. 30, 1925, to Irish immigrants, Daniel O'Connell and Elizabeth Price. She attended St. Catherine's Academy, CCNY and the University of Illinois. She married attorney William "Bill" A. Kummer in 1949; they were married 52 years. She was a retired N.Y. state court clerk, and was "Judge Judy" Sheindlin's first court clerk upon her appointment to the Manhattan Family Court. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; infant siblings, Patricia and Daniel; husband, Bill; and sister, Elizabeth Fagerstrom. Survivors: Sister, Mary Hicken of Iowa City, Iowa; nieces, Lenore Hemphill of Boulder City, Nev., and Elizabeth Christiansen of Iowa City; nephews, Jeffrey Hicken of Minneapolis, Minn., Dan Fagerstrom of Humble, Brian O'Connell of Botswana, and Dan Hicken of Riverside, Calif.; numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
