Gary Patrick Coursey died unexpectedly at his home Monday, May 12, 2014, in Ovilla at the age of 53. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday in the garden of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wayne Boze Funeral Home at 1826 West Highway 287 Business, Waxahachie, 75165. Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gary's name to the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter & Adoption Center, 1150 East Pleasant Run Road, Cedar Hill, Texas 75104, 972-291-5335. Gary was born July 12, 1960, in Brownwood to Loretta Hood and William Patrick Coursey. He was the oldest of four children, a role of which he took so seriously and they loved him dearly for it. He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1978 and moved to Arlington in 1985 where ultimately became employed with heritage LTV Aerospace which later became Triumph Aerostructures for the next 28 years until his retirement in February 2014. He met Lisa Hawley in 2004, Memorial Day weekend, and seven years later they were married, on Aug. 4, 2011, in Waxahachie. They became best friends and soul mates and loved each other dearly. He was an avid high school and college football fan and enjoyed all outdoor activities. He took great joy in family activities and spearheaded yearly family reunions. He loved spending time with his two daughters and his beautiful granddaughter. He loved to travel and he and Lisa took many memorable trips together, many with no destination in mind, just go. Preceding him in death were his mother, Loretta Hood Orr; his sister, Carrie Mechaele Coursey; his paternal grandparents, Clark and Melba Coursey; his maternal grandfather, Buford Allen Hood; and uncles, Bruce Hood and Sam Coursey, with both of whom he had a special bond. Survivors: His wife, Lisa Eileen; daughters, Amber Nicole and husband, Chase Sampson, of Dallas, Adele O'Shay Hawley of Ovilla; son, Patrick Tanner Coursey of Arlington; granddaughter, Kinley Paige Sampson; sister, Alicia Kalk Fall and husband, Ron, of Georgetown; brother, Johnny Sheldon Carson and wife, Tracy, of Burleson; his father, Pat Coursey and wife, Nelle, of Brownwood; maternal grandmother, Lee Green Hood of Wellington; his aunt, Sondra and husband, Lyman Daniel, also of Wellington; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gary was my neighbor in Arlington and I still think of him often. He airways had a smile and loved to stand and chat. He is truly missed.

Doesn't seem possible that Gary has been gone for over 2 years. He was one of the sweetest friend i had the pleasure of working with and knowing outside of work. He and Lisa were stranded in a rain storm on his bike in maypearl and i went out and brought them home with me to dry off and wait out the storm. I was working out of state at the time of his death and don't think i ever really dealt with his loss. he just wasn't around. love ya and miss you Gary.

Ahh Gary was a good friend of my brother in law Mike White. I soon also became a friend of this great guy. Sad to hear of his passing. I made a couple of trips to the coast with Gary in the early 80's along with Mike White and other friends of theirs. He was such a likeable guy with a very sweet disposition. I send condolences to all who knew and loved Gary. I pray he is up there with Mike now and they are doing some catch up. Gary will be missed here on this earth. God Bless. Mike Purcell

I had the pleasure of meeting "Pookie Man" ( what me and the hubby called him) only for a short time and I want to say thanks to him for always making us smile! You are gone but never forgotten!

Gary was my neighbor in Arlington and I used to stop and talk with him while walking my dogs. He was such a nice person and was always happy and smiling. He is making Heaven a livelier place!

I worked with Gary for over 20 years at LTV, and he was like a kid brother to me. Always smiling and never in a bad mood. My heart breaks for his family with this loss. Another Angel called to heaven too soon.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Gary's family.

Gary was one of the finest people I have ever met. We were coworkers for better than 6 years.

Gary was taken from us all way too soon...heaven must be in need of a Heckova' good Bondsman...

Always willing to lend a helping hand and took great pride in his work.

On so many, many occasions, Gary was there to help do whatever needed to be done...dependable cannot even begin to describe his work ethic.

He spent countless hours on his job to ensure his fellow coworkers were able to complete their tasks.

I never met a person so easy-going and eager to laugh at other people's dumb jokes.

I consider Gary to be a friend of mine and will never forget him.

To the family, sorry for your loss, my prayers go out to you. I worked with Gary and it was always one of the high points of my day to discuss college football with Gary. He spoke many times to me about his family, I know he loved you all. I also know from my talks with Gary that he is happy now in heaven.
