Burleson, Texas - Gary Dale Turner was born November 23, 1942 in North Fort Worth, Texas. He passed away peacefully in his home June 8, 2023.
Gary grew up in Fort Worth with his brothers. After graduating from Fort Worth Tech High School he received a full basketball scholarship to Paris Junior College and then Texas Christian University. Upon graduating, he played for the Boston Celtics and Houston Mavericks. In 2002 he was inducted into the TCU Hall of Fame.
When he retired as an American Professional Basketball player he continued with a successful long career as a building contractor. He then came back home to be close to his family and many lifetime friends.
Gary loved a good game of golf and a good cigar. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers Don and Bob and their children, John, Cathy and Rick. He would have fun adventures for them and they always looked forward to being with their Uncle Gary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Hays and his brothers Don and Robert (Bob).
He is survived by his Sister-in-law Ruth Turner, children John Turner and Cathy Fowler. John Turner's children Haleigh Pierce and husband Bradford and Morgan. Cathy Fowler her husband Brad and children Skylar, Taylor and Marshall. He is also survived by his Sister-in-law Norma Turner, nephew Rick Turner and wife Angela and children Ashley and Reid Turner, and many cousins of the Farris Family.
Even though he lost the tough game of life he is still a champion in our eyes.
