Georgia E. Plummer was born Dec. 9, 1920, to James Edward and Essie Wright Arledge in Merryville, La. She moved at the age of 17 to Beaumont, where she met and married "the boy next door," Alan H. Plummer.
They raised three sons, Alan Jr. "Hank," Edward and Ralph, all of whom graduated from South Park High School and Lamar University in Beaumont. Georgia and her family were active members of Washington Boulevard Christian Church and then University Christian Church.
She worked at Lamar University, Baptist Hospital and Spindletop Electric before her retirement and subsequent move to Arlington to be nearer her family.
Grace Covenant Church became her church home in Arlington, where she was an active member of the Silver Stars for several years. Never a woman who desired worldly possessions, she considered her greatest wealth to be family, friends, faith and a good book.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan, in 1973.
Survivors: Brothers and their wives, Jake and Joyce Arledge, Dan and Gloria Arledge and Bob and Alice Arledge; sons and their wives, Alan and Peggy of Arlington, Edward and Willis Ann and Ralph and Madolyn of Houston; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
