August 6, 1938 - February 3, 2024

Fort Worth, Texas - Gordon Burt, 85, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on February 3, 2024. He was born on August 6, 1938. Gordon was an assistant to the director for cost analysis and research for the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe railroad for 44 years. He started his career in Chicago and was transferred to Fort Worth in 1996 when Burlington Northern merged with Santa Fe.

Gordon was a dedicated family man and is survived by his high school sweetheart of 66 years, Sharon Burt, and their children Kimberly (Brad) Bachelor, Dan (Avonda) Burt, Jeff Burt, Kevin (Karen) Burt, and Doug (Holly) Swenson-Burt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ruby Burt, and his son Brandon David.

In addition to his professional achievements, Gordon was an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He held esteemed positions within the organization, including Past Department Commander Patriarchs Militant of Texas and Past Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampment of Texas. Gordon also dedicated his time as a volunteer at Bass Hall for many years.

A funeral service will be held on February 24, 2024, at 1:00pm at Biggers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Children's Education Program at Bass Hall in Fort Worth, Texas.

Gordon Burt will be deeply missed by his loving family, including his grandchildren Amy, Dan, Ashley, Chris, Zack, Christopher, Jon, Jennifer, Ryker, Jodi, Brandy, Gavin, Genna, and his 39 great-grandchildren. May he rest in peace.

I'm so sorry to hear of Gordon's passing, and also that I missed his funeral service. I worked with Gordon for many years at Bass Performance Hall. He was a great guy and will be dearly missed.
