Windy has been a family friend all my life. My earliest memories of Windy and Alberta and family are cook outs and fishing trips and just being in each others homes. Windy and my dad (Kenny) played together on the Plymouth Oilers for many years up until they both retired from baseball. They also both worked for Plymouth Oil company and later Marathon. Wendy was one of Dad’s closest friends as well as his supervisor. We lived 3 doors down from the Donaldson’s for several years, later we lived just a block away for close to 15 yrs at the Sinton Camp (for Plymouth/Marathon employees). Marie or Alberta were always babysitting for each other. (When they weren’t dragging the kids along to go shopping). The Donaldson’s bought a home in Sinton and moved intown. Shortly after that the Dad was transferred to Iraan, Tex. Although many miles apart Dad and Kenny (and Alberta and Marie (Mom)) remained very close friends. I grew up with Donnie, Darrel and Debbie Donaldson. Lil Deb and I were close growing up. (In fact as embarrassing as it is to repeat I do recall a time that Lil Deb got the upper hand on me with a broom or tennis racket or something and gave me my first blackeye). Donnie and Darrel were always the guys to look up to, the big brother types. Very athletic and always successful in sports at Sinton High in football, track and baseball.

Through the years Dad and Windy spent time hunting or just hanging out at the Ranch in Fredricksburg. When Mom passed away in ’84 Windy and Alberta were there for Dad and made sure he didn’t spend too much time alone. And since then they have been back and forth to Fredricksburg and Dad up to their Lake house many times.

Windy in my memory was strong Dad, a good example to live by, and a very good and loyal friend.

I know that I will always remember him fondly as a part of my extended family!!

Dear Donny and family,

May God Bless you all during this time of loss. DD - I know that your dad was a special man in your life, and I've enjoyed listening to some of your stories about spending time with him during his baseball playing days. Now is the time to hold onto those memories. Take care to all.
