Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Burial: 3 p.m. Tuesday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Rosary: 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials: Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas 75219; or charity of choice.
Gus was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church, Scottish Rite, Moslah Temple, Bedouins Unit, Korean War Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
During World War II, Mr. Romer was stationed in Europe as a captain with the United States Army where he received the Bronze Star. He retired from General Dynamics after 35 years of service, three of those years spent working in Iran.
Survivors: Wife, Estelee; son, Jon Romer and wife, Tonya of Rockport; daughter, Kris Potts and husband, Jeff; stepson, Terry Alan Faris and wife, Zandra of Kingwood; sister, Catherine Schoppe of Lake Jackson; brother, Paul Romer of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Frances Romer of New Braunfels; grandsons, Sean Romer and wife, Angie of Azle, Cameron Romer of Rockport; granddaughter, Alyson Potts; stepgrandsons, Scott Faris and wife, Karen of Dallas, Daniel Reed Faris of Kingwood; great-grandsons, William Reed Faris of Dallas, Colby Scott Romer of Azle; and several nieces and nephews.

I remember the day Gus hired in at General Dynamice and he has been a wonderful friend all these years... We were together in Iran and he was so helpful to my wife and daughter in Iran.
We will miss him.
