Howard Walbridge Obituary

Howard A. Walbridge, 90, a retired mechanical engineer, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, in Fort Worth.

Memorial Service: will be held at John Knox Presbyterian Kirk in Kansas City, Mo.

Memorials: Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Howard Walbridge Engineering Scholarship, Texas Christian University, TCU Box 297044, Fort Worth, Texas 76129 or Walbridge Community Service Award, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Drake University, 2507 University Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50311.

Howard A. Walbridge was born March 5, 1912, in Decatur, Mich. In 1936 he graduated with a bachelor of science in engineering from the University of Michigan. He married Marjorie Jean Hofer in 1938 and moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he was a self-employed manufacturer's representative.

As a registered professional engineer, he was a member of Instrument Society of America and of Missouri and National Society of Professional Engineers. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church, a youth church school teacher and a member and officer of the Kansas City Michigan Club.

He enjoyed golf with his friends, his dog Pokey, and traveling the world with Marjorie.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Barton House for their care and love for Howard. Our special thanks also to American Hospice.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Walbridge, May 13, 1999.

Survivors: Daughters, Jean Walbridge and husband, James W. Clark of Fort Worth and Mary Walbridge Patton and husband, Thomas F. of St. Louis, Mo.; and grandchildren, Erin R. Lockard, James C. Lockard and wife, Amanda.
