Service: In accordance with Mac's wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service. Instead, the family will gather informally to welcome friends 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home-Bowen Chapel, 4216 S. Bowen Road at I-20, in Arlington.
Ian and his wife, Lillian, had lived in the Mansfield-Arlington area for 30 years before moving to The Woodlands a year ago to be near their daughter and her family.
Ian was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia, on Sept. 22, 1933, to George and Kathleen McKean and moved to Monterey, Calif., at the age of 14. Mac joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and proudly became an American citizen soon after he enlisted. He spent 20 years in the Air Force and during those years saw service in Korea, France and England as well as two tours of duty in Southeast Asia. After retiring from the Air Force, Mac worked for 17 years as a purchasing agent first at The Fort Worth Club and then at the Petroleum Club until his official retirement.
Survivors: Ian and his wife, Lillian, were married in 1955 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Ian was extremely proud of his daughter, Shawn, and his grandchildren, Ian, Trey and Amy. Mac also dearly loved his son-in-law, Russell, and considered him his own son. Mac's family is saddened by his passing but grateful for all the happy memories he leaves behind. Mac will also be missed by his brother, Jim, Jim's wife, Ann, and their sons; his sister-in-law, Dixie Mock, her children and their spouses; his brother-in-law, Don Costley, his children and their spouses, all of them members of Lillian's family, whom he considered his own; and numerous cherished friends, whom he also considered family.

Dear Shawn and family,
Darby and I are so sorry for your loss. We did not know your dad, but from reading the obituary, he sounds like someone we would have loved knowing. You and your children are a wonderful legacy to his life. And how wonderful that he considered Russell like a son.
We will have all of you and your mom in our prayers.

Dear Lil, Shawn, Russell and family,
We know you are hurting now, and Mac will be missed. We grieve with you and for you, but not for him, for we know he is now at peace, and will be there waiting to greet us when we end our stay here.
Knowing him, I'm sure he'll be comfortably sitting there with his large smile, a wink in his eye, a joke on his lips, and a drink in hand. He'll offer us a drink and a chair, and he'll entertain us while we catch up on what's been going on in our lives.
We love you, and look forward to sharing your memories of Mac and the wonderful times you had together when you return home.
Drive careful. We love you!
