J. McFarland Obituary

J. D. McFarland
March 15, 1931 - March 31, 2023
Mansfield, Texas - J. D. McFarland departed for his heavenly home on Friday March 31.
He was born in Longview, Texas to D.B. and Sudie McFarland and graduated from Judson High school. He entered the United States Navy and spent three years in glamorous locations including the Sea of Japan and Adak Island, Alaska. His tour included land-based assignments and a tour aboard the USS Los Angeles throwing lead at North Korea. After the war he settled in Longview and began work with the Treasury department as a special investigator. After his retirement he moved to Arlington to be closer to family.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his daughter Sharon. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Myrtle, and his son Larry and wife Karen. Other survivors include grandsons Taylor and wife Katy, Drew and wife Jennetta, Matt and wife Haley and the thundering herd of tiny feet which are his great grandchildren. He was the consummate Christian husband and father and brought joy and light to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all.
