Dearest Brian and those who loved Mike most:

From the days we rode to band practice in high school together, Mike and I were special friends.

No one had a keener wit or bigger heart - and no one had a bigger knack for getting us first into trouble - and then out of it!

As Vietnam came and went, so did Mike, to do his duty as a United States Marine - something of which we were all so very proud. He came back to us a changed man somehow - both deeper and wiser - but still with that keen dry sparkle in his eye and his heart bigger than ever.

He settled into raising a family, and Brian and Jennifer were never far from their father's approving eyes. A word of praise from Mike was always much sought-after - from all who knew him - for he thought carefully about what he said and with whom he shared it - and he shared himself and his thoughts with many.

Mike is one of those who bring truth to the words "he will be missed by all who knew him." But even more will he be missed by those who perhaps never had the good fortune to know him well enough - for they missed one of God's most divine creations.

I will miss you more than you know, Mike. God bless you, and thank you for letting me know you and your wonderful family over the years. Linda and I wish we could be there, but we are here for you and your family in spirit and will see you again one day. . .

I haven't seen Mike for years, but he endeared himself to me when he and Brian appeared at my son's graduation from Air Force basic training many years ago. Mike was dressed in his military uniform, which was an honor to my son and the other graduates. Cheryl, Jennifer, Brian, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

It has been a great comfort to read these messages posted from family and friends, co-workers and neighbors of my brother, Mike. I agree with all of you who recognize the fine qualities and attributes he possessed. He was indeed remarkable. He had a keen sense of "honor bound" and "duty bound" beliefs, which he exhibited throughout his life. He had the unique instinct to see the value in everyone he met and to put everyone at ease with his relaxed, gentle nature. Yes, he loved us all; and we love him. That love will continue to be with us. He was a wonderful son to his parents and the most wonderful brother to his three sisters. We've been blessed by him.

I am saddened to hear of your loss. I worked with Mike at SBC on 9-1-1 service. He was so generous with his knowledge and taught me everything I could ever want to know about the service. He was also a great friend to me when we moved to Fort Worth almost 18 years ago. He will certainly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are you all of you.

Denise and family, As you meet people and you decide which ones you want to keep close to your heart. Mike was a keeper. He was a hoot to work with on the M M and brought some very clever ideas to make the play even more fun. I truly enjoyed being around him as most others have too. May the Lord grant you peace in your heart in the fastest of time.

Denise, Jennifer and Willow,

What a great guy Mike was. Working with him all summer on the Murder Mystery was a blast. He was more of a ham than all of us. My prayers will be for you, and I'm asking the Lord to give you peace in your heart to replace the pain you're now going through. Mike is in a wonderful place, looking down at us, waiting to see us again. And we will all be together once more. Sharon will be cooking and we'll all be around the table solving the world's problems (or at least camp's) as always. You know I love you and will do anything I can to help you through this.

I’m truly sorry to hear about Mike.
At SBC, I worked with Mike as part of Jim Redpath’s team. He had a great sense of humor and was easy to work with. I always appreciated Mike for showing up on a job to give me a hand. He had a quick wit and could lighten up a tough job situation.
It’s a tragic loss and sad moment for all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with you folks.
