James Bracey Obituary

James Lea Bracey, 67, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008.
Memorial service: 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Ridglea Presbyterian Church.

James Lea Bracey was born March 13, 1940, in Florence, S.C., son of the late Cecil Perritt and Mary Lea Bracey. He grew up in Dallas. After graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1958, he earned his BBA from Texas Tech in 1963 and his MBA from TCU in 1969. He worked for Lockheed-Martin, retiring in January 1999.
Jim was a life member of the American Radio Relay League and participated in the activities of the Fort Worth Area Kilocycle Club and with RACES as a storm spotter. His community activities included being a graduate of both the Fort Worth Fire and Police Citizens academies. For many years, he enjoyed working for Citizens on Patrol. He was also a member of the K.M. Van Zandt Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution.
Jim was passionately interested in genealogy and particularly proud of earning his Wood Badge designation while being an assistant scoutmaster for BSA Troop 326. He was an ordained deacon and elder in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., and a member of Ridglea Presbyterian Church.
Survivors: His son, James McLeod "Mac" Bracey of Richmond, Va.; former spouse, Ann Bracey; and cousins, Henry D. Salter, Lea Salter and Virginia McMillan, all of South Carolina.
