The funeral service will be held on October 4, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. in Greenwood's Live Oak Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107; and will also be livestreamed on Greenwood's website. Parking is located at the back of the A-framed building, as is the entrance. Greenwood Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
James O. Matous was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Stanley Matous and Rose (Benner) Matous. James graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Wichita, as well as a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the same institution. He received his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University's College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. He worked as an Aeronautical Engineer at General Dynamics in the Data Systems Division, where he made a notable impact. James also spent his career working for additional companies, including Lockheed Martin, Beech, and Boeing. James enjoyed engineering, small engine repairs, investing, carpentry, drawing, watching football, and spending time with his loved ones.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Matous and Rose (Benner) Matous; and his siblings, Stanley (Bud) Matous, John Matous, and Rosie Warhurst.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Matous; his children, Steven Matous and Teresa (Matous) Ziegler; and his grandchildren, Sarah Matous, Rachel Ziegler, Emma Matous, and Nathan Matous.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to those sending love and support during this time.
