Janene Cunningham was a 1996 graduate of Dallas Baptist University. She was the first woman in Texas to have her funeral director/embalmer's license. She volunteered for many years as a counselor at the Robin Wood Camp for special needs children where they knew her "J.C. Pearl." She served as chief embalmer at Laurel Land Funeral Home for over 25 years where she was affectionately known as "Mother." She was co-author of the book "Alpha to Omega," which is an intructional publication for funeral directors and embalmers. She loved Dr Pepper, Lorna Doones, Fig Newtons and club crackers, collected eagles and Siamese cats, adored Mickey Mouse and J.C.'s turtle of 20-plus years Dinky. Janene drove her covered wagon drawn by the mule team of Ida and Ivy in the Texas Sesquicentennial anniversary celebration. Janene touched so very many lives and will be missed by all who knew her. She lived and worked with the theory that "excellence is a matter of choice."

Janine was a classmate of mine at Graham High School. I remember her as being a friend to me during a particularly difficult time in my life.

I was in band with Janine in Graham High School and remember her fondly. This is very sad. Her class was to celebrate their 40 year reunion next summer.
