Jim Peel Obituary

Our beloved Peel, Dad, Pop passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, August 18, 2025. Jimmy Peel was born in Springtown, Texas, on December 19, 1943. His parents were William Garlin "Homer" Peel and Melba Hall Peel.

Jim attended Tarrant County Junior College for two years. He married Candy in 1975, and they had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Two beautiful people shared their lives together with them, Wendy Peel Bell and Roby Elsner.

Jim and Candy belonged to South Park Baptist Church. He had been baptized at the Church of Christ in Meadowbrook.

Jim started working for Texas Refinery Corporation in 1962, retiring in 2010 as Vice President and Personnel Director. He was the only curator for 30 years at the Pate Museum of Transportation in Cresson, Texas.

Through his association with Dr. Aggie Pate, he was involved with the Texas Girls Choir, Miss Texas Pageant, Friends of the Texas Christian University Library, Texas Historical Commission, Big Brothers/Sisters of Tarrant County, and many more too long to list. One of the biggest honors for Jim was the Doolittle Raider Reunion at the Pate Museum.

Survivors include Candy Hammons Peel, Wendy Bell (David), Roby Elsner, Allyson Bell Steadman (Max), Philipp Steadman, sister-in-law, Jeri Lester, nephew, Allen Peel (Beverly), and aunt, Barbara Peel, and numerous cousins.
