Jimmie Jordan Obituary

Jimmie Jordan

November 8, 1938 - July 20, 2024

Fort Worth, Texas - Jimmie Doyle Jordan was born November 8, 1938 in Lubbock, Texas to Carl Albert Jordan and Lockie Fae Beaty Jordan Ellison. An interesting note, Jimmie was delivered by his paternal grandfather, Dr. Dempsey Truman Jordan.

The family moved to Weatherford, Texas in early 1943. Later that year, housing became available in Liberator Village, Government Housing in White Settlement, Texas for those building World War II airplanes. In 1952, Jimmie started sixth grade at the brand new high school, C.F. Brewer High School, originally opened for sixth through twelfth grade. Jimmie made the DFW Metroplex Area his lifelong home.

Jimmie met the Love of His Life, Jerry Sue (Susie) Wright, December 31, 1964. Jimmie and Susie married June 10, 1965 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Jimmie loved his wife and their five children dearly and taught them to stay very close while enjoying many birthdays, holidays and other celebrations. Their close-knit family was always considered their greatest accomplishment.

Jimmie was well known for his hard work, dedication and talents running the family upholstery and drapery business, started by his mother Lockie Jordan in 1947. In 1956, Lockie purchased AAA Upholstery Company at 4909 Camp Bowie Blvd. In 1968, they moved across the street to 4908 Camp Bowie Blvd. After Jimmie's mother passed in 1976, he continued to run the business with the same high quality and dedication. In 1989, Jimmie moved the company one last time to its current location, 4949 Byers Avenue. The company has thrived and continued to grow through many decades and across the continental United States, serving multi-generations of clients, and the privilege of working for two Presidents of the United States. Jimmie always strived to complete each job with the same quality work as that of his mother's excellence. Four generations have worked together in the family business, now in its 77th year.

Jimmie passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 20, 2024, surrounded by his children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren just as he requested. Jimmie was preceded in death by his mother, father and his wife Susie. Jimmie is survived by his two brothers, and his loving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of cousins.

Visitation: 10:30am Friday, July 26, with Funeral Service at 11:30, Friday, July 26, 2024 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Private Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
