Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Burial: In the family plot at Arwine Cemetery in Hurst. Visitation: The family will receive friends prior to the service.

Jim was born in Hurst, the youngest child of Lige and Mae Wilkerson. He lived his entire life in the Hurst, Bedford and Fort Worth area, until June 2006, when he and his wife moved to Austin, making their home in Onion Creek with their son and daughter-in-law, David and Liz Willson.

Willson and wife, Liz; stepgrandchildren, Sarah Willson of Houston and Rachael Rowley and husband, David, of San Marcos; sister, Evelyn Fitch George of Bedford; nephews, Randy Fitch of Austin and Bill Wilkerson of Garland; nieces, JoEllen Anderson of North Richland Hills, Martha Ann Bell of Colleyville and Jean Gaylen Jackson of Dallas; several cousins in Indiana; and many, many wonderful friends from many places.

Look up the phrase "full of life" in the dictionary and you'll see a picture
of Mr. Wilkerson. I never talked to him or saw him without a big smile
or hearty wave. Opinionated, yes, but always a great joy to talk to and
be around. We need to spend less time wondering whether we'll be
remembered, and more time wondering whether we'll be missed. I have
missed conversation and fellowship with both Mr. and Mrs. Wilkerson
since the move to Austin, and will now miss Mr. Wilkerson's hearty
laugh and strong feelings about the Cowboys, Rangers and life in
general, forever. What a guy!

If a person could have only one friend, then make mine Jimmy Wilkerson. He was a Prince. He was my second dad when I was growing up. Eddy Lauterback, newphew
