John McAdams Obituary

John McAdams
July 21, 1947 - December 25, 2021
Fort Worth, Texas - John Blaine McAdams went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 25, 2021. His wife, June, was at his side.
John was born July 21, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Norman H. and Genevieve Strahl McAdams. He graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School in 1965. He was selected for Oklahoma Boys' State and was an Oklahoma state track champion in the half-mile running event.
John attended Oklahoma State University where he was a member of the Varsity Debate team, a member of the Blue Key Honorary Fraternity, a Student Senator and graduated with honors in 1969. Having completed ROTC at OSU, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve and was later honorably discharged as a Captain in field artillery.
John graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in1972. He was honored to be Research Assistant for Dean Page Keeton in his senior year. After graduation, John became an associate with the Strasburger & Price law firm in Dallas, Texas. It was there in Dallas that he met and married the love of his life, June Sims, on October 5, 1974.
In 1975, John was recruited to be an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Oklahoma College of Law where he taught contracts law and copyright law. John and June moved to Fort Worth in 1977, where he practiced law with the Vinson & Elkins and Kelly, Hart & Hallman law firms.
John's career passion became representing major league baseball teams. His clients included the Texas Rangers Baseball Team (for which he served as General Counsel), the Oakland Athletics Baseball Team and the Detroit Tigers Baseball Team. During his sports law career John established a successful reputation representing major league baseball teams in salary arbitration cases.
But John's personal passion was being a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Megan. He was Indian Princess Chief, self-appointed carpool "Dad of the Year" for many years and an avid Country Day School fan. He was honored to serve on the Board of Directors for The Gladney Center for Adoption.
John and June's love of travel carried them around the world. One of their favorite pastimes was golfing (though sometimes not well) on famous courses. They spent many summers in a cabin facing the Cascade Mountains and overlooking beautiful Puget Sound in the State of Washington. They also visited over thirty national parks during their travels.
In 1996, the McAdams family found their way to Christ Chapel Bible Church, and they knew they had found their church home. As the church grew, John's faith grew exponentially. He became active in a Small Group and his men's group, Band of Brothers. God knew he was going to need a strong faith to battle pancreatic cancer which was diagnosed in 2013. And with the help of his many prayer warriors, battle it he did! John knew the miracle of surviving pancreatic cancer for 8 years was the strength and courage he found in Christ alone.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Genevieve McAdams and sister, Susan McAdams Dugan.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, June Sims McAdams of Ft. Worth, TX; his daughter, Megan McAdams Goodman (Nathan) and grandson, Miles, of Austin, TX; his brother, William McAdams (Mary) of Indianapolis, IN; brothers-in-law, Stan Sims of Brandon, MS, and Jack Dugan of Corpus Christi, TX; seven wonderful nieces and nephews and their families; and many dear friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at MDA Cancer Center in Houston, Texas Oncology in Fort Worth and Community Hospice of Texas, especially Ericka and Susan, for their expert treatment and caring concern.
As a final testament to his desire to help others, John has donated his body for educational study to the Willed Body Program of the UNT Health Science Center.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to MDA Cancer Center, The Gladney Center or Christ Chapel Bible Church.
A Celebration of Life for John will be held in the chapel at Christ Chapel Bible Church on Thursday, January 6, 2021, at 2 o'clock.

I am so sorry to learn of John´s passing. I´ll always be thankful that he "took a chance on an unknown" when he hired me to be his secretary at V&E. My love to June, Megan, and their family.

June, My heart aches for you and your family. You have been such a wonderful wife and partner to John. I am so glad he got to spend time with Megan and her family and enjoy his precious grandson. We shared so many memories through Gladney and personally. One of my favorite memories is John dancing at Ashley´s wedding! What a sweet and fun guy. Love you soooo much!
