John Routon Obituary

John Hoyt Routon, 90, passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, after a valiant battle with several illnesses. Celebration of life: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Visitation: 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel. Viewing: Thursday at Greenwood. Memorials: Individuals who wish may make a contribution to the American Heart Association, heart.org; or LifePath Systems Foundation, lifepathsystems.org/lps-foundation, Box 828, McKinney, Texas 75070, in lieu of flowers. Hoyt was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Pilot Point to John P. and Ruby Routon. His three sisters, Betty Beasley, Wanda Howard and Annette Young, continued to be a close and loving part of his life. He met and married Agnes Blumberg in Pilot Point and was devoted to her care until her death just 50 days before his, after 69 years of marriage. Hoyt was a World War II Navy veteran. He retired from USPHSH and Repco and served as a longtime deacon of First Baptist Church of Forest Hill. His outgoing personality was a role model for many. He taught us to be humble, to persevere in hard times and to care for all. Hoyt was happiest riding a tractor, pushing a lawn mower or listening to country/gospel music. Much appreciation is owed to his nurse, Beverly and staff at Klarus Home Health Care for their caring and professional support. Survivors: Hoyt's life impacted so many, including his daughter, Susan Caylor (Sam); son, Randy Routon (Diane); grandchildren, Christi Grossklaus (Trevor), Brandi Gates, Brian Routon (Yanz), Erin Routon and Hilary Routon; great-grandchildren, Austin and Jansen Grossklaus, Landon Gates and Calvin Routon; sister-in-law, Pauline Dickey; brother-in-law, Clifton Howard; best friend and caregiver, Irma Quezada; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

Hoyt was always generous, thoughtful, full of love, fun to be with, a quick wit, and always ready to lend a hand to help others. He, as Agnes, will always be in my heart.

Although I only met Mr. Routon on a few occasions, his personality was always prominent - soft-spoken, thoughtful, and whimsical.

Through his family, we know that he was a beautiful man, father, grandfather, and more.

We wish the family peace and love, knowing that Mr. Routon will always be in your heart, guiding you forward.

Sincerely - Cristy & John
