Dear Johnny,
My dear, dear grandson, not a day passes that you are not in my thoughts. I thank God you were part of all of our lives! I remember all the fun and love you brought to us from the day you were born. You were always a great example for your brothers and sister. When we asked you to do something, you NEVER said: "can I finish this TV program or game, or I'll do it later." You always came through for us and smiled that great smile. You made me laugh with your jokes and riddles. I remember you telling me about your hopes and dreams and plans for your future.I miss the instant messages you'd send me when you found me on line.I know you would not like to see how sad we are that you are gone and my hope is someday to be together with you again; but in this life I find it very hard to be without you.
We cherish the times you came to the farm. Remember cross country skiing?
We remember the send-off we gave Bobby to college. That trip cannot be forgotten. You kept teasing me.
You brought a little bit of heaven here when you were with us. Please save a place for us in heaven. You are forever in our hearts. Grandpa and I love you and miss you!!

Johnny,
Two things happened over the weekend which makes me want to write today. My brother and I were in a Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop on Sat. and they were showing a tape of the Cowboys and Titans game from last season. My brother reminded me that we were at the game. I reminded him that we were at the game with Johnny and his dad. It was the last thing we did together. I also remembered that I didn't hug you when I left your house after the game. I just assumed we would be seeing each other and doing other things in the future. Second, I came across the card you gave me at the end of your senior year in which you said you were sorry that we had been unable to do the things we used to do and that you would never forget our times together. Trust me Johnny, it is me who will never forget the times we had together. Your death seems so surreal even today. I love you and miss you.
Your buddy,
Rutter

Johnny..where can I start. I just now found out that you were gone, and I just can't believe it! We'd only hung out a handful of times since I moved from Bedford so long ago, but I can honestly say that you're one of the best friends I've ever had. I have so many memories from the four years that we lived across the street from each other on good ol Woodbridge. Through all the little fights we had and whatever else, you were always one of those people that I knew would be there for me when I needed him. Last time I saw you was March of 1999 I think..and it was so awesome because you hadn't changed at all. You were a great friend to me Johnny and everyone else too obviously. You are missed dearly and I know that you're in a better place.

Johnny was one of the liveliest people I have ever met, always spontaneous which he shared with all of us through his actions and comments that would make anyone want to laugh or crack a smile.
I'm still baffled by the whole situation, and it has troubled me at times while thinking about it. However, I realize now that even though your physical presence no longer remains among us, your spirit will always remain in my memory and heart.
Much love,
Keerthan

There is no single word to describe Johnathan. He was bright, talented, amicable, funny, sweet, kind, considerate...the list could go on forever, but most of all he was loved. Throughout the years that I knew him, he proved, not only to me, but to all who knew him, that he was a person a cut above the rest. His passing seems surreal. The memory of him is so fresh, and I can still remember the last time I saw him, and every time I recall a memory like this, I wish he was still here so hard that it hurts. But that cannot happen so I will settle for the memory of his love, his smile, his words, and I find assurance in that I know he is in heaven, watching out for all of us. Johnny, I miss you every day, and I will always love you forever.
Your loving cousin, Sara

First, I want to give my condolences to the Flobeck family. We all loved Johnny so much, and I can only imagine the unbearable pain you have gone through. Johnny was a truly amazing person. I can't remember a day that he didn't make me smile, or that he wasn't smiling himself. I remember all the great times we had together, Matt, Lindsey, Johnny and myself. Johnny was an amazing person, and he touched so many lives and was the greatest role model to his little brothers and sister. I remember when he caught Ana when Bobby almost threw her off the trampoline. He was always the jokester. I just want to say I'm sorry and god bless to everyone, especially the Flobeck family, that has been touched by Johnny's loss. What a truly amazing and gifted person. He's smiling down on us all from heaven, watching over us every day.
Love,
Kaitlin Terwilliger
P.S. Don't look down on us too hard from heaven with those aviator sunglasses, Johnny. :)

I am so grateful to all of the people who write in this guest book where I’ve have often found comfort and company, sometimes late at night when I still can’t sleep.
I think of Johnathan often. I wonder how he managed to finish his work here in such a short time. He had something very special that he shared with all of us. His love and affection made all of us special. I don’t remember him without a smile or smirk. He never let me feel guilt over any of the times I didn’t get his birthday present to him until Christmas. He just made me feel glad - unconditionally. He had joy, kindness and graciousness that I will miss forever. I love him so much.
Someday I am going to stop feeling sorry for myself - for all of us. Someday I’m going to be able to remember him without feeling so much pain. Then I’m just going to be thankful that he was a part of my life and I’m lucky enough to have known him. I’m going to remember his spirit, his love of life and laughter.

I can honestly say I do not know where to start. Johnny was born one day short of a year and a half before I showed up. So I missed a little but he sure did show me a great childhood when I got here... and then a cool pre-teen phase and through out our teenage years he told me some of the most valuable things that a brother could pass on. He continued to share his experiences and mishaps so I could learn from his mistakes up until he was there to ship me off to college. Which was the last time I saw him. He told me that he was so proud of me playing college football. I no longer have the plow in front of me to make the way easier... but after these great eighteen years I had of the easy road, it is time for me to pave the way.
Believe me Johnny with you now behind me pushing me to be great I will make this seemingly unending road easier for Joey, Donny, Jacob, Anna, and Mark. I had found a great quote you wrote down from the movie gladiator. It was something like "Death smiles upon all, so why not smile back" As you always did I will keep on smiling. Knowing that my death will bring me to you once again and then we can clown on everyone still thinking that death is where it ends. Until that day comes brother, I will hold you so close to my heart. I miss you.

As a teacher, I hoped to make an impression on my students. In this case, Johnny made an impression on me. He brightened my classroom with his jokes, enthusiasm, and candy! (especially during the elections.) I admired his solid moral character, committment to intergrity, and constant positive personality. What a great human being! My prayers go out to the Flobeck family.

Johnnie and I were somewhere between acquaintances and freinds, so I can't say I knew him very well. Actually, I think I know him better now that he's not here, which truly saddens me. To see the things he did for everyone... God has a plan and a reason for everything, whether we like it or not. I think I can speak for everyone who had the same relationship I did with him when I say that I believe one of the reasons for this is to teach us to not take for granted the people in our lives. If there is someone you feel God is telling you to befreind, don't wait. You never know when you won't have any more chances. I'm going to have to wait until I am called home before I'll get mine. Oh, and Johnnie, alright, you win.. you can be the #1 Stunna.. Just enjoy it while you can. HA!
And I suddenly feel like a different person
From the roots of my soul come a gentle coercion
A vacancy that just did not belong.
The child is gone..

Hey Johnny,
How are you doing buddy? I bet you're doing fine, you're in a better place now. It almost seems surreal, as if it didn't happen. I remember when I first heard the news, I was in shock and didnt' know what to believe but now that it has been a month or so, I guess I have gotten it into my head that you are no longer on Earth.
Johnny was a person who was so bright and had everything going for him. He was someone that can not be replaced, he was one of a kind. Johnny was able to accomplish anything he wanted to. He was a kid at heart, I mean he was suppose to be the President of the United States.
Now that he is gone, we all can learn from this and remember the good times we had with Johnny. Thanks Johnny for all the memories, and of course I will never forget you and Bobby singing "I Want to Know," by Joe and amazingly I have heard it a couple of times on the radio just recently.
My condolescences goes out to Johnny's family. Johnny will never be forgotten. Bobby may you take on the role of being the oldest brother.

Even though over a month has passed, Johnny is still in my thoughts and his family in my prayers every single day. I had known Johnny ever since the preschool days when we carpooled together, and grew up with him up until high school graduation. He was an amazing person and touched more lives in his short time on earth than most people ever could. We will never forget you...

I am at a loss for words at this whole situation. I have known Johnny ever since t-ball at the YMCA he has been the nicest person ever since then. Wish you were still here, but know you'll always be in our lives.

Having known Johnny for almost twelve years, I have yet to meet anyone with a more contagious laugh. If he were in our shoes today, writing in this very guest book, he would have us all laughing out loud and smiling from ear to ear at what he had to say.
He was an incredible human being and lives on as an inspiration to us all.
Keep us strong, Johnny :-)

I still feel this is just a horrible dream that I'm waiting to wake up from, but I fear it isn't and so I sit forever stained by my own tears. If I should never wake up to find that this was the very depth of a nightmare I'm happy knowing that there was no great unsaid word between us and nothing said or done that I would ever change if I had a moment in time to undo. For all the memories that make us smile and then inevitably cry, the images of his grin and the sound of his laugh we miss the most important thing that we should be taking from our friendship with Johnny. It wasn't his compassion, his humor, his always friendly demanor, or his academic accomplishments that created the person that so many of us are confident would have made (and in many respects did) the world a far better place. At the heart of these characteristics, something that defined and impacted them in our world and lives, was his commitment to bettering himself. Johnny was not perfect, but in how he dealt with his own imperfections he was that much closer. It was his willingness to learn from his mistakes instead of allowing their negative influences to fester and remain by ignoring them. It was his search for Truth and an undaunting courage to examine himself and his beliefs so that he could be confident in holding them and believing in them. It was his courage to change his opinion when they weren't justified to be believed. It is men like this that are the only hope to forge a better world and better selves because they learn and grow. In their growth we can learn and be inspired to follow in that most noble of paths. I've said before that I believe in Heaven and God. I'd like to believe that Heaven is the perfect emobodiment of all that is good. But I feel completely sure that the very fabric of heaven is oh so much brighter and its perfection that much more complete with Johnny's presence. But on Earth we must live. And here on Earth to truly honor our fallen brother we must learn from his most important characteristic and find the inspiration and courage to follow it.
Even after I stop crying and grow older (and hopefully wiser) you will never be forgotten or loved any less. I miss you so much.

Johnny was my first new friend at UT. We met at summer orientation, lived in Jester together, and played intramural football together. Words cannot really express what I feel. I will write the Flobeck family to express my sentiments, but this is too impersonal. To everyone else, just keep in mind that Johnny is happy now because he is in a much better place. He is laughing at all of us who are still doing homework. He is not worrying about paying rent or other expenses. He has no worries in Heaven, because he is now with God in His kingdom. Not only do others have a second chance at life because of Johnny's heart and other organs, but we all have a new outlook on life because of this tragedy. Keep his family and other friends in your prayers, and may God bless you.

Johnny was one of the most inspirational people I have ever had the privaledge of knowing. He was a leader and a role model. He had a quality to him that when you saw him he would bring an energy, a liveliness to the scene. Always cracking the corniest jokes and the one person you could count on to bring a smile to your face. What happened is a tragedy, but I go on knowing he has already gone to a better place, a place we will all be reunited in the end. Flow, you accomplished more in your short lived life than most could hope for in a lifetime; impacted so many lives. You and your family will always be in our hearts and prayers. Rest in Peace Bro.

From Swim Team to Student Council meetings our friendship was fun. Waking up to those dreaded swim practices in the morning and having all of us walk in with saggy eyes, so not wanting to be there.
I miss you very much, though our time together was short, I know I will see you again in Heaven; where you and I will dance/swim our heart's away. May you watch over us and keep us all safe down here. WOW!! How I can't wait to see what Heaven is like, I will see you there one day, one day.

I still remember the knock-knock jokes that Johnny used to tell when I volunteered in his classroom at Spring Garden Elementary. His jokes became much more sophisticated at Harwood Junior High, and by the time he attended Trinity his sense of humor was appreciated by everybody. Johnny was, and continues to be, an inspiration. He served as a role model for many, and taught us all valuable lessons. As he rises up on eagle's wings, we shall miss Johnny.

Johnny:
When I heard what happened, it wasn't true, you weren't gone, you're still with us. We just won't get to see you for a while, but absence makes the heart grow fonder. And everyday it grows so much for you that I am not sure when it's going to stop. You've exceeded expectations and made lifetime friends turned family. You've been there for others when they weren't for you. I won't forget the smiles and good times we had together.
For the Flobeck family, my prayers are with you. I knew Johnny from St. Mikes and graduated with him. There are not enough words to describe this man, only thoughts can keep him with us. Johnny wasn't my friend, he was more of a brother, one you wanted in your life.
In the land of light, we see gold,
In the land of dark, we see cold,
But in our hearts, so warm and tender,
We won't forget the one who made it richer.

My deepest prayers and sympathies go out to the entire Flobeck family. I graduated with Bobby, so I never really got a chance to know Jonny that well. But what I knew of him I knew he was a GREAT guy and well respected. May God bless you in your time of need.

My deepest sympathies to the family and close friends of Johnny. It was such a shock to hear the news. I was in the same class as Bobby and never got to know Johnny that well, but I always saw his happy, smiling face through the halls of Trinity high school. You all have a wonderful angel looking over you now. God bless you all.

I taught Religious Education to Johnny back when he was in 9th grade. I ran into him his Senior year and he asked if I remembered him, which I did since my daughter was in school with him. I was just surprised he remembered me. He was always friendly and polite when I ran into him. I'm sure he was a source of great pride to you. My prayers are with you and your whole family. May you find some strength in knowing he was well loved. God Bless You.

I didn't go to Trinity with Johnny, I'm a junior this year. I didn't really know Johnny that well. One of my friends and I went to Texas Land and Cattle over Christmas break this past year and we noticed that our waiter looked pretty familiar. Come to find out it was Johnny Flobeck. We talked to him for a little while and he was such a nice person. I'm going to miss going to him greatly.

I was in Johnny's Speech class in 2000 at Trinity.. He was always funny and made the class laugh. Even though I didn't know him, it was apparent what a great person he was. I really feel for the family. This is so sad. Take care.
