Jose Galaviz Obituary
Memorial service: Private service at 10 a.m. for only immediate family in Blessing Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorials: American Diabetes Association or VITAS Innovative Hospice Care. The family thanks VITAS for its support and care, especially Robbie, Monica, Melissa, Lisa, Twila, Bonnie, Shirley and Chaplain Alberto.
Jose was born in El Paso on April 15, 1926. He served as a military policeman with Troop B24 Constable Squad from January 1946 until his honorable discharge in August 1947. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal (Austria). Jose retired from General Motors Corp. in, Bay City, Mich., on March 1, 1993. He completed 38 years of service as a machine repairman. He resided in Bay City, Kawkawlin and Shelby Township, Mich., before moving to Mansfield 2 1/2 years ago.
Jose lived a long and happy life. He was a devoted, faithful and loving father, husband and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen Cordova Galaviz and Carmen Galaviz; brother, Adrian Galaviz; and sister, Loren Flores.
Survivors: Wife of 38 years, Nora Galaviz; son, Ronald and wife, Kimberly Galaviz, of Kendallville, Ind.; daughters, Elizabeth and Rebecca Galaviz of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Natalie and Justin Galaviz; sisters, Janie and husband, Armando Ortiz, and Pauline Castro; brothers, Salvador and wife, Mary Galaviz, and Guadalupe Galaviz; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

No bond is as great as that between a parent and a child. My Father Jose was a great man, that was truly loved by his children.
