Julie Shaw Obituary

Julie Lynn Shaw

October 14, 1955 - June 22, 2025

Grandview, Texas - Julie Lynn Shaw was born October 14, 1955, to Elaine and Robert Shaw in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Paschal High School and then UT Austin.

In Austin, she met Craig Kuykendall and together they lived a life of adventure including travel to Europe where she studied Culinary Arts in Paris at La Varenne. Their love of French cooking led them to open their restaurant, Tours, on West 7th Street in Fort Worth in the early 1980s.

Julie and Craig married June 9, 1985 and together have three children, David (Alex), Kelly and Cora.

Julie was a loving and inspiring person, best remembered for her genuine kindness and joy in the presence of others. People flocked around Julie; over the years she became known and loved by an extensive list of friends, neighbors, and colleagues, and she took great pleasure in watching her family grow to include children, their friends and spouses, and her grandchildren. Most recently, after moving south of Fort Worth, she and Craig were able to build a working farm as a place for family and friends to gather. She will be forever missed. Her kindness and love will always inspire and comfort those who knew her.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother (Bob Shaw), and husband, and survived by her brother, Bill Shaw, children Kelly Kuykendall (Matthew Mendez), Cora Kuykendall, Alex Kuykendall (Anne Ross) and granddaughters, Della and Molly.

Her memorial service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3344 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, TX 76107.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you please make donations to The Warm Place.

What glorious memories I have of Julie. Beginning around grade 3 at Tanglewood. We lived on Hartwood and Julie on Pebblebrook Ct. As the years passed she and I both ended up at The University of Texas, Austin. Julie one year ahead of me. When it came time to choose our Big Sisters, I wanted my Julie! Luckily, she wanted me too. It was wonderful. When Julie was in Paris at the famous school we managed to get in touch by phone. I was there for a short visit with my husband. Our mothers made sure we had the contacts. We did not get a chance to meet face to face. Her schedule as you could imagine was intense. The opening of Tours allowed for some great meetings not to mention the exquisite food. What a life, what a woman, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and icing on the cake My Big Sister! I will love you and miss you always. Lee

I first met Julie about six years ago when she came to see me as a client at Massage Envy. From the very beginning, she believed in me and my entrepreneurial dreams-and when I opened my own practice, she followed me there. That simple act of support grew into a meaningful friendship I will always cherish.

Over the years, we shared so many conversations about life, love, family, and the world around us. Julie often spoke with deep pride and peace about the beautiful farm life she built with her husband. It was clear how much she loved him, their children, and especially how much she adored her granddaughters.

I will truly miss her warmth, our talks, and the laughter we shared. Julie touched my life in a special way, and I´m grateful to have known her.

Such a wonderful individual. Bright, energetic and so much fun. Julie and Craig taught me how to cook. Much love to them both.

I was a classmate from middle through high school. She was a gem of a person. It is a blessing that her candle still glimmers through her family and friends.
