Kendall Andrews Obituary

Kendall "Ken" Earl Andrews, Jr.
July 14, 1937 - July 31, 2022
Westworth Village, Texas - Kendall (Ken) Earl Andrews, Jr., of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away July 31, 2022, at the age of 85 after a short illness.
A small private family and friends gathering is being planned in the coming weeks.
In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting Possum Kingdom Area Volunteer Firefighting Organizations or The Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation braganslugger.com.
Ken was born July 14, 1937, to Kendall and Dorothy Darnell Andrews in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Paschal High School and upon graduation in 1955, Ken entered Texas Christian University. A member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Ken earned a Bachelor's of Business Administration in 1960. He remained a lifelong supporter of the Horned Frogs, an avocation he passed on to several family members.
After a stint in the U.S. Army, Ken started his career as a banker at Exchange Bank and Trust of Dallas in 1962. Throughout his career he was a senior banking officer specializing in assisting troubled banks in reorganizing and restoring operations to profitability. In 1983 Ken helped lead the formation and growth of Provident Bancorp of Texas, which grew into a five-bank holding company.
Among Ken's many activities was the management of his ranch, the 2A, in Stephens County, just west of Possum Kingdom, purchased in 1967 with his brother, George. The ranch has been a beloved retreat for the entire family and has hosted countless holidays, hunts and work days. Ken loved to drive out to the ranch and direct the work activities of sons, sons-in-law and grandsons. His love of land and wildlife management stems from his teenage years spent at the Rocker B Ranch in Barnhart, Texas where he worked for his uncle, U.S. Senator, William A Blakely.
Ken was an avid collector throughout his life and amassed several impressive collections of firearms, coins and western art. His primary focus, however, was historical, first edition books on Texas/Ranching, the Civil War and the Oil and Gas industry. Ken enjoyed attending book shows, following online auctions and daily trips to Half Price Bookstores in search of elusive and hard to find books.
Ken Andrews was preceded in death by his parents, Kendall and Dorothy Andrews; sister, Carol; son, Michael Dunn; and a nephew, David Doty.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sue; brother, George Andrews and wife, Patty; children, Blake Andrews and wife, Janie, Sherri Taylor and husband, Tracy and Sandy Barnett; grandchildren, Kyle Andrews and wife, Erin, Kendall Andrews, Blake Taylor, Haley Taylor, Brent Barnett and wife, Katy, Elisabeth Thomas and husband, Chris and Rebekah Dunn; and great-grandchildren, Ryan Andrews and Callie Andrews.
