Kenneth Hubbard Obituary

Kenneth Hubbard, 78, son of Dora and E.V. "Ted" Hubbard, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, after a long and courageous battle. Twenty years ago, Ken suffered a massive stroke and later fought cancer to the end, living at home under the care of his family. Kenneth was born Dec. 5, 1937, in Odessa. Ken's career, though cut short, was in the stock and commodity brokerage business, beginning at Goodbody and Co. in Houston and retiring from Paine Webber in Fort Worth. Hunting was his passion, but he also liked to play any kind of game, including golf and tennis. A 1956 graduate of R.L. Paschal High School and a graduate of Texas Tech University, Ken married Kay Harris in 1960. They were blessed with three children and three grandsons. Above all, Ken was a family man who participated in all of his kids' activities. He served as a trustee at St. Stephen Presbyterian Church and was a member of Colonial Country Club. In celebration of Ken's life, may your cookie jars be always filled with chocolate chips and your candy jars with M&M's. Survivors: Loving wife of 55 years, Kay; children, Kelly Bailey, Ted Hubbard, and Kory Hubbard and wife, Christine; grandsons, Jake Torzewski, Wyndham Hubbard and wife, Vera, and Ethan Hubbard; sister, Robbie DeHay and husband, Larry; brother-in-law, Ray Harris and wife, Sue; sister-in-law, Judy Staser and Wayne Esslinger; many nieces and nephews and all their children and grandchildren; our wonderful and caring neighbors, Ed and Jeannine Felczak and Priscilla and Steve Bennett; and last, but not least, constant companions, Kaki and Hucklebarry.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this transition. Kennth was a great neighbor in high school. He and my older brother Charlie shared some teenage adventures that still bring smiles to him when he talks about them. May God comfort your family.
