Lena S. Dawes
Oct. 15, 1936 - July 10 2010
Lena S. Dawes, 73, of Tokoi, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque. She was born Oct. 15, 1936, in Towaoc, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Dawes, in 1995; brothers, Harvey Bekis, Joe Scott, Raymond Scott and Paul Scott; and her parents, Frank and Mary Scott.
She is survived by her five daughters, Marie (Pastor Herman) Harrison of Tokoi, Linda Dawes of Cudei, Arlene Dawes of Shiprock, Carrie Dawes of Tokoi, and Darlene (Johnnyson) Benally of Tokoi; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bessie (Alvin) Martin, Annie (Wallace) Ahkeah, Sarah S. (Rick) Hayes, and Daisy S. (Jack) Lee all of Towaoc.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 15, at Victory Life Fellowship in Tokoi. Pastor Herman Harrison will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Shiprock Community Cemetery.
Lena is in the care of Desert View Funeral Home of Shiprock, North U.S. Hwy. 491; (505) 368-4607.

To the family of Grandmother Lena Dawes,
My prayers and thoughts are with you during this time. Marie, Carrie, Linda and Dottie, my special thoughts go out to you. I remember when She would come to church when my grandfather set up his tent at your home. She was alway found with a smile on her face. Auntie Lena, you suffered for a long time and now I know you have passed on into the other side. You will truely be missed not only by me but the rest of our family. Although I did not see you a lot, I often thought of you. Your girls and your sisters will be okay, I know the holy people will take care of them just as they did with you.
