Lenore McClister Obituary

Lenore "Nonie" Long Bales McClister FORT WORTH--Lenore "Nonie" Long Bales McClister passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Private. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Nonie was born July 29, 1922, in Kansas City, Mo., to Lenore Long and Walter J. Bales Jr. She moved back to Texas as a child and was raised in Fort Worth. She attended Pine Manor Junior College and Mills College in Oakland, Calif. Nonie returned to Fort Worth to raise her family and resided here until her death. Nonie was a member of the Assembly, The Fort Worth Junior League and was a founding member of the Jewel Charity Ball. Nonie was a board member of the Fort Worth Zoo as well as the Fort Worth Art Association. Nonie loved a good party and was usually the first to arrive and the last to leave. She enjoyed many lifelong friendships through her 95 years and was loved by many. As Nonie would frequently say, "Let's have a smart cocktail." Nonie was preceded in death by her husbands, B.V. Thompson Jr., W.R. Grady Jr., and J. O. McClister III. SURVIVORS: Son, B.V. "Buck" Thompson III; daughter, Lenore Grady McLeland; stepson, J. O. McClister IV; grandchildren, Lenore Long Wiese, Michelle Beggs Moncrief and Grady Paul McLeland and wife, Jennifer Riley McLeland; and great-grandchildren, Carly Beggs Coleman, Campbell Bright Coleman, Charlie Blue Betty Coleman, Charlotte Anne Long McLeland and Andrew Bales Riley McLeland.
