Leonard Covington Obituary

Leonard Covington, 73, a great husband, father and friend to many, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008, in Fort Worth, after a long-term battle with cancer.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Benbrook United Methodist Church, 1122 Bryant St. Interment: 4 p.m. Tuesday in Murphree Cemetery, Evant. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family sincerely requests donations to Community Hospice of Texas, 6100 Western Place, Suite 500, Fort Worth 76107; Benbrook United Methodist Church, CLC Debt Fund, Benbrook 76126; or Humane Society of North Texas, 1840 E. Lancaster, Fort Worth 76103.
Leonard was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Mills County to Lewis and Ollie Covington. He was the youngest of six children.
Leonard was an employee of Lockheed Martin for 42 years, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of Ridglea Masonic Lodge, receiving a 50-year membership pin, achieving the position as worshipful master from 2006-2007.
Leonard married Frances Marwitz of Evant on June 24, 1955. Leonard and Frances made their home in Benbrook in 1965.
Upon retirement, they spent their leisure time piecing and quilting.
Special recognition is given to our caregiver, April Fish-McGowan.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors: Loving wife of 52 years, Frances Covington; son, Terry Covington and wife, Kitty of Benbrook; daughter, Tami Ellis and husband, Randy of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Kaylyn Covington and Elizabeth Ellis; and sisters, Lorene Armstrong and Robbie Robertson of Goldthwaite.
