Lillian Mikolajczyk Nowakowski

Lillian Mikolajczyk Nowakowski, 92, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014. Service: Visitation and funeral will take place in Chicago, Ill. Entombment: Holy Cross Mausoleum in Calumet City, Ill. Elmwood Chapel of Chicago, Ill., 773-731-2749, is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials: St. John the Apostle Catholic Church of North Richland Hills or Arthritis National Research Foundation, in lieu of flowers. She was born Jan. 14 to Joseph and Josephine Mikolajczyk in New Chicago, Ind. She moved to Illinois and worked at R.R. Donnelley & Sons. She was happily married for 59 years to her wonderful husband, John, and then held various jobs, retiring from Jay's Potato Chips. A longtime resident of Calumet City, Ill., she was former resident of Holiday Lane Estates and Heartland Nursing Home in North Richland Hills. She was an avid bingo, card and chicken foot player. The family thanks her loving caregivers at Holiday Lane Estates, and especially all her friends and caregivers at Heartland Nursing home and Odyssey Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Steve, Walter, Lawrence and Frank; and sisters, Jenny Mackiewicz and Estelle Hochevar. Survivors: She was the loving mother of Terri of Tinley Park, Ill., and Patricia Cox (David) of North Richland Hills; cherished grandmother of Jimmy Cox (Blair); great-grandmother of Rhett Cox of North Richland Hills; and fond aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great- nephews.
