Lois Auguston Obituary

Lois Terry Augustson FORT WORTH--Lois Terry Augustson, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018. SERVICE: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at University United Methodist Church with Rev. Beth Evers officiating. Interment: Lois will be buried beside her beloved husband in Resthaven Memorial Park, Midland, Texas. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Clark Class of University UMC. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be given to University United Methodist Church, 2416 W. Berry St., Fort Worth, TX 76110, or a charity or your choice. Lois was born in Santa Rosa, N.M., on Oct. 31, 1926, to J.B. and Nell Minor Terry. The third child of four, Lois and her family moved to Midland, Texas, when she was 4 years old. She attended Midland schools and graduated from Midland High School. Lois met her future husband, Augie Augustson, when he was visiting a friend in Midland just after the ending of World War II where Augie served in the Marine Corps. An Illinois native, Augie followed his heart and made the transition to Texas. Lois and Augie were married in Midland on Aug. 30, 1947. In the early 1950s, the couple moved and made Fort Worth their home. Lois' strong Christian faith shone through in every aspect of her life. Very active in Matthews Memorial Methodist Church, now University United Methodist Church, she was the church secretary for 31 years. She loved her Bible study group and looked forward to every meeting. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority, Gamma Xi Chapter. Known for her great sense of humor, Lois had a way of bringing happiness to all those around her. She will also be remembered for her devotion to TCU football. She was a season ticketholder for many years and later never missed a game on TV. Her love of nature that was evident in her beautiful lawn and the flowers which flourished under her loving care. She and her two sisters, Nellie and Lou, took frequent birding trips, always excited to see how many species they could spot and who could do so first. Lois very enthusiastically dedicated many years to researching the Terry family tree. Her great passion for genealogy sparked the interest of several of her nieces. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Nell Terry; her beloved husband of 63 years, Augie; sisters, Lou Bliss and Nellie Hughes; and brother, J.B. Terry Jr. SURVIVORS: Lois is survived by 16 nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends.
