Louise Smith Obituary

Louise Diamond Smith, 75, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday in Arlington Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Tom Walker, Brian Jaynes, David Youngblood, Greg Ticknor, Ed Fields and Gary Robertson.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delta Delta Delta Foundation for the Louise Diamond Smith Endowment Fund, 2331 Brookhollow Plaza Drive, Arlington, Texas 76006.
Louise was born Jan. 30, 1934, in Russellville, Ala. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in personnel management and was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. While at UT, she met and married her sweetheart, Billy J. Smith of Edgewood, to whom she was married for 54 years. She gave years of service to Delta Delta Delta as executive director from 1972 until 1990. She also served as oresident of its foundation, was a member of its board of directors and chairman of its Crescent Fund. Her leadership, commitment, dedication and fun-loving spirit in Delta Delta Delta have remained untouched through the years. Louise was a sustaining member of the Arlington Junior League, served as past president of the Arlington Civic League and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Lou was blessed with many good friends with whom she enjoyed bridge, Bible study, dinner club and traveling.
Survivors: Louise is survived by her husband, Billy J. Smith; sons, Andrew C. Smith and wife, Brenda, and Cody R. Smith and wife, Polly, all of Arlington; grandchildren, Carson, Jenna, Landry and Athen Smith, all of Arlington; brother, Jack Diamond and wife, Norma, of Carrollton; nieces, Lou Rosenfeld of River Oaks, Jan Frey of Dallas and Jean Anne Walker of Keller; nephew, Jack Diamond Jr. of Dallas; brother-in-law, Sid Johnson of Brandon, Miss., and his children, David, Lori and Sandy.
