Lucile Courtenay Stark Fields was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Gainesville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Reuben E. Fields. Lucile attended TCU and the Univ. of Chicago, majoring in chemistry. She met Reuben at their mutual residence hall, the International House. Both shared an affection for other cultures, and, over the years, they traveled extensively and opened their home to many foreign students.
Lucy played duplicate bridge up until her death. She also taught adult literacy and English as a second language classes and was a member of a Great Books Discussion Group for many years. She loved baseball and will now be watching over "her" Texas Rangers.
Her intellect, generosity, patience, wit, kindness and good judgment made Lucile a valuable and trusted teacher, advisor and friend to many. Her friends, relatives, neighbors, bridge partners, dog Trevor, and the birds and squirrels of Ridglea Hills will miss her.
The family wishes to commend and thank the nurses and doctors of the Baylor All Saints Hospital Intensive Care Unit and Vitas Hospice for their excellent care in the last weeks of Lucile's life.
