Marilyn Bingemann Obituary

Marilyn ("Lynn") A. Bingemann

Marilyn ("Lynn") A. Bingemann passed away September 5, 2013 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She was 86 years old. Lynn was born to Otto and Frances Aimone and grew up in New Jersey with her siblings, Otto Jr. and Arlene. The family spent summers on Long Beach Island of white sands and warm Atlantic currents, where she met her future husband, Karl G. J. Bingemann Jr.

Lynn began her early working career as a lab tech at Merck in NJ and later at USC in CA. Karl and Lynn moved back to upstate NY and settled in a farmhouse on 93 acres of land. Their first child, Diane was born there. Then it was back to the west coast to land in Palos Verdes Estates, CA, where the couple welcomed two sons, Karl R. and Eric. Lynn spent many years as a homemaker and mother extraordinaire, being an excellent cook and the best pie-baker on the planet; but she still reached out to serve her community. She was active in PTA offices, church circles and running the Yule Parlor Parade at the Neighborhood Church in PVE, serving as a Marriage Encounter leader and Steven Minister, helping others in their relationships and life challenges, and also fundraised for hospice. Other interests and social involvements included tennis, bridge, gardening (Gardeneers Club) and lots of beach time. For many years there were Tuesday night dinners at the Portuguese Bend Club with family and friends and years of get-togethers with the very cherished friends of the Via Rivera crowd; you know who you are. As Lynn's children left home, she filled time working as a kindergarten classroom aide and maintained relationships with her students well into their adulthood. She launched her own floral design business, The Fifth Room, and glorified many a wedding and household at holiday times with her creations.

Lynn's beautiful soul is now free of the trap that her declining body became. She is soaring high and smiling on us all. The many people whose lives Lynn touched will remember her as a loving, caring and giving person; she could be considered a "queen of hospitality." She seemed to make time for everyone. Lynn is predeceased by her parents, siblings and husband. She is survived by her children, Diane (Bob Garcia), Karl R.(Annie Ko) and Eric (Gigi Osco); grandchildren, Christopher, Eric, Jeff and Suzanne Garcia, William, Tyler and Kurtis Bingemann and Jacob Bingemann, as well as many east coast relatives. The family would like to thank LaDonna and Joey, her loving caregivers and suggests in lieu of cards or flowers that a donation to Bayside Hospice of Torrance, or the Alzheimer's Association be made in her name. No public service is planned. Lynn and Karl's ashes will be spread together on the breezes over Long Beach Island. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
