Mary Collins Obituary

Mary Linda Hodges Collins, 70, beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, in the presence of people who loved her deeply. Service: 3 p.m. Friday in Arlington Funeral Home Chapel. Linda will be returned to the place she loved most, the beach. Mary was born Oct. 21, 1940, to James Hodges and Cora Barrett in Houston. She lived an active life and was gifted in many ways. She was an accomplished violinist, skilled nurse, photo model, talented watercolorist, decorator designer, ardent gardener and admired flight attendant. These talents paled in comparison to the warmth she brought to her relationships with family and friends. She had an open, disarming presence that allowed her to create deep, lasting friendships wherever she went throughout her life. Her love for her extended family was boundless and 11 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren will forever remember their beloved "grandear" as we all will. The family gives special thanks to Community Hospice and the many caregivers for Linda's care. Survivors: Husband, Don Collins; daughter, Erin Hill; son, Will Helton and wife, Gee; parents, James and Cora Hodges; sister, Joyce Sidman and husband, Johnny; brother, Jim Hodges and wife, Genine; and many cousins.

Linda you were a special person and I
am happy thinking of you as I remember
our visits at DFW when you were leaving
on trips. I was with you when you
discovered your home in Arlington and
watched the transformation. You were
talented as a decorator as you were
in all your efforts. Bless you my
friend.

Linda,
In my 25 years of flying, my favorite trips were the trips to Sanibel and Captiva with you. Your sweet calm demeanor and the way you saw beauty in the smallest detail was always refreshing.
I will always remember your beautiful presentation and service in First Class, your movie star looks and your warm smile and comforting ways.
Thank you so very much for your caring friendship. I will never forget all the fun we had at the beach.
Love,
Andy Hamilton
