It is good to read these remembrances of wonderful people and wonderful times . Our lives have been interwoven with them. Life goes on but we still miss many of the ones named in these comments. May the family members who remain be blessed by their memories.

We have wonderful memories with Matt Jr's family and all of the large Markum Family. We have considered them part of our own family ever since coming to Fort Worth in 1944. The family took us into their hearts and homes for which we will always be grateful. Matt Jr., Loretta and many of the family were part of our church family as well. My Dad was their pastor and loved every one of them. This family will always have a very special place in our hearts and we miss the wonderful times we all had in the past. Randy, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers as you say "goodbye" to your wonderful Dad. He will be missed by all but we are confident that he is enjoying the blessings of Heaven! Our family has many fond memories of Matt and summers in Fort Worth. I remember hanging out at the race track and car lot. Uncle Matt was a great friend and cousin to my Dad and Celia.
Randy our prayers are with you and he will be missed by all of us.

Dear Papa, I love you so much great-grandpa, you are going to be greatly missed. I have two of your great-great-grandchildren (Trae 4, Kloey 9wks) I would have loved for you to meet, they both have dark hair and dark eyes just like you. I will never forget when you took all the grandkids to see Christmas lights I kept covering your eyes while you were driving! Tell Granny and Papa Gordy hello for us and that we love you all. We will all be together again one day. I love you.

Randy, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your fmaily. You know where I am if you need anything. It is hard to say goodbye to the only Uncle I had left, but find comfort in the belief that he is having a good time with hiw wife, his beloved mother, and all of his siblings that went before him. I loved my uncle Matt. He was a good man with a big heart. His sense of humor was awesome and I have some great memories from Colorado and California when he had me rolling in the floor with laughter. I so enjoyed the times I have had with him, especially since his sister (my mother) passed. I will treasure those memories and the stories he told me about the past. Rest in peace my precious Uncle.

Matt Junior was the best cousin and brother a person could ever ask for. I worked for Junior at Markum Motors for a few years in the early 50s and he signed the first line on my lodge petition. He was a great mentor and a good, honest man who will be greatly missed. My condolences to his lovely family that he was so proud off.

Randy and Family, my prayers and thoughts are with you. Matt Jr. was a good friend. I remember a woman-less wedding that he was a part of that took place in Darius Willis's backyard. Matt had alot of fun with that. I am glad that I got to visit with Matt in the lobby of Liberty Bank a few months ago. He was a good man and I will miss him.

I have many happy memories of Matt and Loretta. My parents, Clarence and Ann Gilbert, were long time friends of theirs. Our family shared many good times together in Lake City, Colorado.
I will never forget when my sister, LueAnn died in an automobile accident in 1984. Matt was one of those who drove up to Decatur to be with our family while we stood vigil at the hospital. It meant a lot to our family.
I will always remember Matt's laugh and his many kindnesses to our family over the years. He was a good friend.

I have known Matt Markum for fifty years and can remember no time that he did not have a smile on his face. The last time we talked he had no complaints about the walker or his failing health. He spoke of being thankful for having a good life and good friends. Matt and all of the Markum family have, in so many ways, contributed much to their community. I, along with a host of others, will miss him greatly. My sympathy and prayers are with the Markum family.

I will never forget in 1964 I was due in Austin to take state boards to get my cosmetology license the next morning and water pump went out on the car. Mother called Matt junior and asked him to loan her a car to get me to state boards on time, and he graciously did. I passed state boards and later did Loretta's hair for years. He always had a smile and a hug. He was the best cousin ever, and I will miss him so much. My prayers are with you Randy, and all the grand kids. He loved all of you so much. I know he is happy to be back with Loretta, and all the others . We have the blessed hope of seeing him again someday. Rest in peace Matt junior, I love you with all my heart.
