Maxine Hargrove Obituary

Maxine Hargrove, 89, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2011. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Maxine was born July 4, 1922, in Fort Worth. She married Kenneth I. Hargrove in 1944 while he was stationed at Carswell AFB and she worked as a parachute packer. She was a remarkable mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always giving unselfishly of her time, energy, wisdom and resources. The family wishes to thank the staff of West Side Campus of Care and Vitas Hospice at Baylor Hospital while caring for her during her brief, but courageous battle with cancer. You were the wind beneath our wings, Nana. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hargrove, and son, Kenneth Wayne. Survivors: Left behind to walk in her footsteps are her children, Debby Williams and husband, Cliff, and Bill Hargrove of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; granddaughters, Christian Pedigo and husband, Kevin, Kelle Albertson and husband, Ray; brother, Carl Mac Hamil of Houston; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Kennedy and Kelsee Pedigo, Keller and Mimi Albertson; best friends, Jules Rose, Dorothy Higgins, Madell and Dale Whitson, all of Fort Worth.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this sad time. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to visit with and get to know Maxine again over the recent years. She was kind and caring and always made me laugh. My mom had 80 years to love her and even though her memory is failing she always remembered and shared her memories of Maxine. One of my favorite photos is of my mom and Maxine walking arm in arm in downtown Ft Worth when they were teens. They were lovely and so happy. Great memories....
