Mildred Meister Obituary

Mildred "Midge" Juanita Meister, 82, a homemaker, died Friday, March 22, 2002, at an Arlington hospital.

Memorial service: 1 p.m. Thursday at Grace Street Church, 2100 E. Arkansas Lane, Arlington.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the "Wigglenose" Mama Midge Meister Memorial Fund through the Community Foundation, 306 W. Seventh St., Fort Worth, Texas 76102.

Mildred was born Dec. 13, 1919, in Fort Worth to the late Joseph Arthur and Ida Belle Cline Martin. "The Angel Named Mom" had a heart so big that even in death, she refused to give up. High-spirited, Mama rose above her upbringing to give unconditional love to all her children. She was a first-class machinist at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station during World War II. Mama's miracle green thumb encouraged all things to grow.

Never meeting a stranger, she always entertained angels. A comforter and encourager, she was strong in the Lord but in a childlike way. "The Big Boss" needed a seamstress to sew new angel outfits, costumes, curtains, etc. Her passing creates a vacuum in the universe because so many lives have been touched and changed by her presence.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Jo Meister, on May 22, 2000.

Survivors: Loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Maury Meister of Arlington; children, Toni Moore and husband, James, of Arlington, Mauria Morell and husband, Ray, of Dallas, Terri Meister and Cathy Meister of Arlington, and Danny Meister of Big Springs; grandchildren, Kevin and Laurie Morell, David and Sonya Morell, Pamela K. Gilmer, Michael and Shelley Sherman, Valerie and Richard Harris, Chase, Hunter and Garrett Meister, Steven and Kami Lindberg; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Matthew Gilmer, Logan Sherman and baby-to-be, Jamie and Ben Collins, Johnny Morell, Joshua, Ashley and Shauna Lindberg, Readebaugh, Kelly, Jada and Nathan; "adopted" children, Donald E. Lindberg, Charles W. Shelton, Corky Lawing, Doug Stout, Gail and Warren Looney and many more; and a large extended family.

Since I was the No:1 daughter, I have a lot of memories. The best is that my Mom was my friend. We had many laughs and tears together and the Dear Lord watched over all of her children and guided many more to happiness and love. I will surely miss my Mom.

My grandmother,Nanny, will surely be missed. I'll miss her laughter, advice, and love. I'll miss the many times of sitting at her kitchen table, at 820, eating and sharing.
