Nancy Ramage Obituary

Nancy Joan Ramage, 57, was welcomed home by our heavenly Father and reunited with her husband, Bill, Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Southcliff Baptist Church. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Nancy was born Jan. 23, 1952, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to Rosemary and Norman O'Brien. Nancy's family moved to El Paso in 1955. It was there, at Irvin High School, that she met the love of her life and soon to be husband. Following four years at the University of Texas at El Paso, Nancy and Bill were married. Shortly thereafter, she gave birth to their daughter, Amy. Their second daughter, Julie, was born 3 1/2 years later in Corpus Christi. After a move to Wichita Falls, where her and her family lived for five years, they settled in Fort Worth, where they have lived ever since.
Nancy was a talented seamstress, decorator and artist who touched many lives and homes, not only with her work, but with the light and spirit of Jesus that she exuded on a daily basis. She attended Southcliff Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Fort Worth Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill.

Amy and Julie,
Your mom was one of only two people that I have ever truly believed was a saint.I told her that often. I will continue to pass on all of her words of wisdom to my children and loved ones. She often used stories about the two of you to help me through parenting struggles. I seriously consider myself blessed to have known her. She was and always will be one of my most favorite people in the world. God Bless.

I am so saddened by the loss of your dear mother. She is one of the few people I have ever known who truly radiates the warmth of Christ to everyone who is near her. She was always such an encouragement to others and truly built others up. Please know you will be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless, Aaron Erskine

I met Nancy in the spring of 2007 in an art class at the Woman's Club. Nancy told us that she had cancer. She also said that her daughter was being married in June.

In June I had surgery for breast cancer. Nancy used flowers that had been left over from the wedding to make a flower arrangement for me. She had carefully made a beautiful flower arrangement. She had her husband bring the flower arrangement to me. I was surprised and grateful for her thoughtfulness.

Amy and Julie,
I am heartbroken to hear of your loss. Your Mom was so beautiful in every way and her gracious, joyful spirit enriched every person she met and spilled over into every place she went. My life has been forever touched by her and the beauty of her life lived in joyful service to her Savior. My prayers are with you. May God hold and hide you in the shelter of His wings.

Amy and Julie,
You were blessed many times over with such a wonderful mom. After making beautifule curtains for our first home in Arlington, I asked her to make them for the next one. Those were even more incredibly beautiful. As I recall, one of you came to help.
Hold on to the precious memories and hold fast to the Christian precepts she lived, loved and taught. That is your source of comfort until we are all reunited.

Amy, Julie and all,
You are all a legacy to Nancy. Her energy and love shines through you and was very evident in the last days and hours of her life on earth. The sincere gathering and comfort you gave each other is the very blessing that I believe was taught by example in Nancy's life.
It was an honor to assist in her care in those few days. Thank you for allowing me to witness your family at that vulnerable place.
Julie and Amy, look close; those babies are your opportunities to continue the legacy of your parents. How beautiful they are!
I am sorry that I am unable to attend the services in the morning. Please know that I am there in spirit. I look forward to hearing joyful news of birth. Hold close to each other.
Again, thank you for allowing me to share such an intimate time.

With much respect and prayer,
Louise Miller, RN

I have yet to meet someone just like Nancy! What a breath of fresh air every time I saw her. She wasn't just a seamstress to help me with my home. It was through so many deep conversations that she became my friend! I am joyful for her and yet devastated for you all!
The only thought that has truly comforted me through the loss of my father 21 years ago is the following thought. I hope you find as much comfort in it as I have. "From the time you're apart until you are together again forever in eternity is but a blink of an eye!" Thank the Lord! I want it to be as little time as possible!

Dear Amy and Julie,

I am sure this is not the first nor the last time you will hear this, but your mom always made me feel likeI was the most important person in the world when I would see her. Her smile was infectious and her obvious love for people knew no boundaries. My heart aches for you both. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Amy, Waylen, Julie, Michael, Jonathan, Scarlet,
I have lost one of my most precious friends who incidentally was my sister-in-law. A real friend always encourages to be more like our Saviour through not only his or her words but by the example of their very lives. Your mother certainly was that encouragement for me. I will miss her greatly, but will remember her legacy as long as I am on this earth. She set the bar very high for the rest of us didn't she? I do not doubt that she stands before her Father in heaven hearing, "Well, done thy good and faithful servant. You ran the whole entire race very well indeed!" love always, Aunt Holly

Dear Ramage and O'Brien Families,

My Heart goes out to you and the family during this difficult time of sorrow. I understand and feel your loss. I have incredible memories of Nancy as a child and being close to the O'Brien family. Nancy was an early inspiration to me as a child to become a creative artist/designer. I still have to this day the painted drawing she did for me, the drawing is of Lucy and Snoopy hugging eachother and she signed it just for me. She signed it Mancy as that is what I used to call her. I will cherish it and cherish her memory. My heartfelt hug to her, the Ramage family and The O'Brien families. May God watch over Nancy and the Familiy.

To all the O'Brien and Ramage families, our hearts are breaking alongside yours. Nancy has been so much on our minds, in our hearts and in our prayers -- as have all of you -- these past few days. I keep picturing Nancy's room in the house on Pikes Peak which displayed so vibrantly all her early artistic talents. That room had so much life and fun with all her paintings on the walls. And Nancy herself was so full of life and warmth. We'll always keep all our memories of her close. All our love and deepest sympathies to each of you.

Dear Amy and Julie, I'm so sorry to read about Nancys passing. I worked with her on drapes for my house. She was a really special person and a dream to work with. She was so proud of her girls and loved her whole family with a passion. I will miss her positive uplifing attitude but I am so thankful to have known her. Sincerely, Karen Florance

I will miss Nancy. I drove by her house each day on my way to work and thought of how sweet she was and how much she helped my family with sewing projects. She was a wonderful teacher at Southcliff to my girls. She always went out of her way to express love. The last time we saw her was at Allison's wedding in 2005. God bless you, Amy and Julie. We knew Nancy through Dorothy and Larry Jones. We never met yet felt we knew her. Our hearts have been touched and prayers for her healing have not been answered except from our Father's healing hand. Your family is being prayed for as you adjust to a new chapter with many volumns of memories.
Many blessings and peace in each heart.
