Nathan Stovall Obituary

Nathan V. Stovall, 87, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, in Arlington. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 910 S. Collins St., Arlington. Interment: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church, Arlington. Nathan was born on Oct. 3, 1928, in Dallas, to Ruby Berryhill Stovall and Elbert Stovall. On Jan. 7, 1946, Nathan joined the U.S. Navy and was discharged on Nov. 5, 1947 as a Fireman First Class, receiving the American Theater and Victory Medal WWII. In 1948, Nathan was hired by Dallas Power and Light as a lineman helper, but was recalled two years later for active duty in the Korean war. Nathan received the Navy Occupation Medal for his Service. He was discharged for the second time in November of 1952. He returned to employment at Dallas Power and Light as a Lineman. He later went to work for Texas Instruments for three years and General Motors for 30 years until his retirement in 1992. After retirement, he spent time golfing and traveling with his wife and friends in their RV club. He devoted his life to his wife, children and grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Bapa." Nathan was active in many organizations including the Korean War Veterans, Masonic Lodge and the Senior Golf Association. He was a member of First Christian Church for over 50 years. Survivors: Nathan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty; sons, David Stovall and wife, Susan and Darrell Stovall and wife, Dawn; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

We are very sorry to hear of Nathan's passing. It was always a pleasure to see and visit with him on the golf course or fitness center. We will miss him. His smile was always uplifting. Our prayers are with his family.
