Norman Erwin Obituary

Norman Erwin, beloved husband and father, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday at Christ Church Assembly of God. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Funeral Home, Fort Worth.

Norman was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Bosque County to Bessie and Luther C. Erwin. He grew up in Whitney on a horse ranch. He married Ruth C. Surginer on Aug. 24, 1946, in Whitney. He started his career in civil service on the Whitney Dam. He retired from Aradmac Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi in 1970. He was a true outdoorsman, loving to hunt, fish and ride horses. He took great joy in raising his children and being with his family. He was a true prayer warrior. He was a proud member of Tarrant County Sheriff's Possee, He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dalton Erwin.

Survivors: Wife, Ruth; son, Darrell Erwin and wife, Audrey; daughter, Charlotte Stokes and husband, Tom; grandchildren, Daphne, Todd, Alicia and Alexis; great-grandchildren, Alyson, Jillian, Peyton and Cole; brother, Hayward Erwin; and sisters, Margaret Guthrie and Glovania Watts.
